I've also located some brown suede Joseph Cheaney derby shoes. Unfortunately they are an 8.5 (I'm a 9), we'll see how they go. Worst comes to worst, I'll return them

Cheaney is probably my favourite of the affordable Northampton shoe makers. Two tone brogues are a bit racy for me, but they look good.

Much more common in the days when people could actually spell the word "gangster".
A favourite of Edward VIII and cricketers as well as Hollywood gangsters and jazz musicians it seems.

There a quite a few just now with fabric for the contrasting colour. I saw someone wearing a pair the other day. I wasn't impressed at all I'm afraid, though apparently it is a traditional style.

But as previously indicated, I do like the look of the Cheaneys.

Two tone oxford brogue is quite a classic shoe, but rare is the occasion they can be worn without much finger pointing and hilarity. Probably great as an an ice breaker.

I think anyone would get away with the style as a golfing shoe.

But, as a 'proper' shoe, with 'normal' clothes, with your pals, in a pub? Stand-by to be mocked mercilessly and forever.

Not an every day shoe for sure, but when properly combined, I think they can look great.
They may occasionally attract a little attention, but as you say, "great as an an ice breaker" in social gatherings; it gives people something easy to comment on when you are amongst strangers or people you don't know well.

I think it takes a certain type of persona (and outfit) to pull off the brown/white combo without looking silly. I've seen it done well a few times on various of the fashion forums but it's a fine line.

Extremely comfortable & I like them .
