You don't think pink trousers aren't in the slightest bit ridiculous, then?

Seems most posters dress like Al Murray or Michael Portillo. Neither is a good look.

The only person who would say that is someone without the style or balls to wear them. I have both.

TBH I'm not sure this is the thread for you.

I'm pretty sure it's not for 99% of people who've posted in it! I'm yet to see anything that's not laughable or bland.

OK then, what would your suggestion be for a casual summer wedding in France?

Someone described my get up at a funeral yesterday as "dapper", and she was an actual girl.

I think that means I win.

Feck knows. I'm no style guru. But I do know pink chinos are wrong for any occasion if you're not Portillo presenting a railway programme.

I'd probably end up looking like I'm an extra on Miami Vice.

Nope, there's a clear line - trousers should never, ever be any shade of red unless part of a uniform for a menial job in the entertainment industry.

Just as well I can think and dress for myself then. It was the shoes I was debating. The trousers are happening.

Do you mean occurring? Pink trousers have never even been described as "happening" even in old films... smile

Choose your own shoes then, Derek....

While I would generally tend to agree with this, I have on rare occasions seen it carried off quite well, and I dare say; quite stylishly. But it is very rare IMO.
(Michael Portillo did not do so; it was almost freakish)

I had a lovely pair of burgundy Farahs in my youth. Not sure I could pull off pink chinos though but each to their own.

I quite like a lot of the outfits on Miami Vice. You've got to be pretty confident and happy in your own skin to wear stuff like that I guess, so if getting a bit of a needling for "being Crockett" from the jeans and Top Gear t shirt brigade would upset you then it's probably not for you.

Technoedup, it would depend how outré I was feeling. You have to go sock less obviously, as it's summer and France, so my vote is for a pair of suede penny loafers, either in a brown or light blue if you're feeling adventurous. Failing that, a pair of espadrilles would be cool and comfortable in the heat.

I'm sure I spotted him and his clones at Henley Regatta over the weekend.

I think a light coloured suede. The style of shoe would be less important than the material on this occasion as suede dresses down any shoe.

As it is likely to be hot maybe a suede loafer?

What were you wearing at a funeral to get described as dapper? Success from tragedy! biggrin

I like that attitude. thumbup

Will you be wearing a tie?

I quite like the outfit madcowman has posted wrt the jacket/shirt/trousers. I'm lacking a Seersucker jacket. Not 100% on the shoes (a touch too informal if wearing a tie) or tie (I'd probably go for a more subtle, perhaps floral pattern). Suppose it depends on the wedding whether the ensemble will work.

I bought this jacket recently for summer wear. Linen and quarter lined. Nice and light.

I think it would work with the pink trousers too.

I'm attending a wedding in Northern France next weekend. I may very well wear this jacket with tan or cream trousers or a blue blazer (prob weather dependant).

I have some burgundy cords that I wear on a regular basis for work.

I am sporting red cords today, slightly faded.

Love em!
