In the colder months I’d go for woody/tobacco/tonka/incense in scents.

A few I like along these lines are
Chanel Sycomore
Serge Lutens Chergui
Parfums de Marly Herod
Amouage Jubilation XXV
Federic Malle Monsieur
Tom Ford Oud Wood and Tobacco Vanille

All well worth a sample
Thanking you, and everyone else who replied.

I'll do a bit of research on this.

I've got some vouchers from a recent birthday, so I've got a feeling that these will be put towards one or more of these scents.

I've had some Armani code in the past. Liked it, but the Armani connection puts me off slightly.

Can I tap into the PH Hive mind. I'm in the market for a new Autumn/Winter fragrance. Normal Summer smell is Acqua di Parma Fico D'Amalfi but it's far too summery for the colder months.

I think I must be the only person whose OH absolutely detests like the smell of Aventus, which had been my go-to. Tried some of the Tom Ford in Italy, didn't like them and the Ferrari scent a woman waved at me in House of Fraser made me recoil with how foul it smelt.

I don't want anything from someone who makes clothes you might find in TK-Maxx (Ralph Lauren, Lacoste - other highstreet fashion brands), nor anything associated with a weekend millionaire/lower league footballer (which is the other problem with Creed.)

Quite specific, I know, but any ideas helpful!
Have you tried AdP colonia leather? If not give that a try, it's very nice after its settled after 10 mins or so.

Also another one I have for colder temperatures is l'occitane eau des baux, that also needs time to settle.

CH Men prive is also a nice fragrance, aswell as Fahrenheit EDP

Regarding Tom Ford perfumes you can't judge it until you've had it on for more than an hour as its way too overpowering.

La yuqawam by rasasi is a 1/1 clone of Tuscan leather aswell if anyone is interested, very potent and cheap(ER)

I've got a couple of city breaks and a work trip coming up this month and next. I fancy getting some small samples I can shove in my hand-luggage. Has anyone got any recommendations that are similar to TF Obre Leather 16? That's my favourite at the minute but I fancy a change (but along the same lines..)

Evening gents smile

Tom from eBay here (well ex eBayer), thanks for the kind words. I try to offer Creed at the best price possible, i dont look to make huge profits like most sellers just cover my costs and keep some juice back for myself.

As someone posted the link to my new web-store:

I was looking for a pedal bike for a friend and asked for the sellers number on behalf of my friend so he could contact him to ask some questions, eBay don't like the threat of loosing a 10% sell on fee.

Aye, the eBay bots will see a phone number or email address and stop it - best bet is to write down your email or number, take a picture of it, and send that as your message!

Made your way over here, then!

I tried Viking today, I have to say I found it disappointing.

Let me know if you do get that Royal Mayfair in smile

Me too.

And the weird, cheap-looking packaging is a joke.

Not wanting to sift through 8 pages of posts.. but can anyone suggest a budget fragrance for daily use in an office?

something sub £20. less the better. a good quantity too, so i don't want anything less than 100ml or so. more the better. hell, if there are any retail/clothes shop branded ones then I am all for it. I've had a couple of 'NEXT' frangrances that I've been ok with in the past. the default would probably be something CK.

my favourite/go to fragrance is armani black code (now simply called Code)
Noticed in Debenhams they have Ferrari fragrances on offer £26 down to £14.50 if you're passing it might be worth trying them.

Thread bump!

Been a bit of a flurry of purchases for me in the last few days. I received a bottle of Creed Aventus for my birthday which is lovely - the latest batch (17x01) doesn't quite seem to have the staying power of older ones but it's still a nice addition.

It occurred to me that I had quite a lot of 'darker' scents which were more suited to evening/non-work wear and I could do with a few more lighter ones for daytime so I've purchased replacement bottles of Bleu de Chanel (that one's been a favourite over the last year or so) and one I'd run out of but hadn't thought to buy in ages - Paco Rabanne 'Ultraviolet Man'. I also happened across Issey Miake 'L'eau Majeure D'Issey' which I have to say smells absolutely fantastic and not too pricey either so I bought a bottle of that too - recommended and based on yesterday it seems to have fantastic longevity. I've also realised i'm easily 'upsold' from 50 to 100ml - the jump in price is negligible given that it's twice as much in the bottle so they're all 100m bottles.

I've also got a few new samples on the way from Scent Samples:

Roja Dove - Amber Aoud: 2ml
Tom Ford - Black Orchid - Eau de Parfum: 5ml
Knize - Knize Ten: 5ml
Xerjoff - Shooting Stars: Nio: 2ml
Roja Parfums - Great Britain: 1ml

I also need to get some more Green Irish Tweed as I've nearly gone through the 30ml I bought from Tom's Creed Decants. I've also nearly gone through the 50ml Original Santal I bought from Scent Samples ages ago and have asked Tom if he could get some in (he says he's going to, along with some Erolfa). I'll probably get 30ml each of GIT, Himalaya, Original Santal and possibly Erolfa too once he has them in.

It's been an expensive weekend...! hehe

Just had a thought - if anyone's up for doing splits between us on any Creed I'd be happy to work something out. Looks like the 50ml glass bottles with atomisers are only a few quid on ebay/Amazon...

Currently using up some Bulgari “Eau parfumee au the noir” from an Emirates flight. It’s growing on me, may have to invest in some.

If people were interested in Royal Mayfair I'd be up for a split - Tom has decanted from his own bottle twice for me now and I feel cheeky asking again!
