Its not by all accounts, its just an illusion and if you use a high zoom camera even though it looks like there is only half a ship on the horizon if you zoom it back in it will all be there.
Well, that should be very easy to prove smile

So, the fat bit of the ship disappears from view as it too far away to see, but you can still see the smaller bits on the top.

Fair enough.
Oh no the fat bit hasnt disappeared, its there, you just cannot see it with the naked eye and a zoom lens will bring it 'back into focus' - there are some very dodgy you tube videos of people trying this but there are no controls usually i.e. knowing actual distance to object, height of camera, light properties on non flat surfaces etc. They basically just do something till it shows something that backs up their theory then post it as gospel.

The scary thing is these people have jobs, have a brain, could even be in jobs which are critical to human life - and yet they are so easily swayed by some grainy you tube video posted by someone they have never met. Its scary people like this can so easily be swayed.

Well, atleast this flat earther is 'trying' but i am not sure what he is achieving!

Guy builds rocket and launches himself 2000 ft in the air to prove the earth is flat. 2000ft?? Seems like an awful lot of expense/danger to get up to 2000ft but fair play to him for actually doing it hehe

So as a ship goes further away, its the BIG lumpy bit at the bottom which disappears first, but the small funnel, masts, etc can still be seen?
Do these idiots need instructions on how to breathe?

So how does he think that's going to "prove" anything? If he went to the top of the rebuilt WTC in NY, he'd be about the same height.

And have these people never heard of aeroplanes?

Probably, yes, it's not really visible from those sorts of heights.
But it is from <2,000ft in a "rocket"?

Do they think that all planets and stars are flat discs, or are the rest of them spheres?
Correct me if I'm wrong (I really can't be bothered to watch any more of those stupid YouTube videos!), but I think I'm right in saying that FE'ers believe only the sun and moon to be spheres, and all the planets, stars, asteriods, comets etc, are simply painted onto the inside of the glass dome.

Painted by who, and how? And if the glass dome is attached to the earth, how do the stars move?

So many questions smile

A giant hand that occasionally picks us up and shakes us to watch the snowflakes settle. This causes earthquakes and tidal waves as well.

No different to those who believe in a God in my opinion, yet subject to more ridicule.

Basically you can come up with any old garbage, and refuse to believe the absolutely overwhelming evidence against it, because if you don't believe the fundamentals rules of physics and how they affect the world around you, then you'll never be convinced of anything.

See moon landing conspiracy morons for details. Cross reference with Russell's Teapot and the IPU.

Entirely reasonable, I thought.

It’s the same people, they’re trying to prove the original Bible is correct.

I really cannot wait for Musk / Bezos / the Chinese etc to put a craft in low lunar orbit and get some decent hi-def video of any of the 6 Apollo landing sites and clarify the situation once and for all. Hopefully I don't have to wait too long...

Do you think that will make one jot of difference to the conspiracy loons?
We already have man made reflectors on the moon that we can bounce lasers off(according to the Big Bang Theory smile) but that isnt good enough

TL:DR

In return, as a mate, I would hope that he would respect and understand that you cannot use or spell the word 'alternative' correctly.
