I'd not had a great sleep and this caused me to accidentally mix a metaphor
which still has me tittering.

My mate was drilling a hole in some heavy steel stock and the drill bit clearly had no teeth
so it was squeaking loudly in protest.

So I said, "It sounds like fingernails on a blackbird!"

Shoot me down in flames if this is photoshopped. I don’t care.

Not ideal to spend New Year in A&E. Decided to ride a horse. Haven't done it before & was a little nervous, maybe it could tell. Immediately it was going full speed and before I knew it, it threw me off. I was screaming for help and the man in the shop came out & unplugged it and banned me.

Google for the address of the 'South Yorks Police Operations Centre'.

I never imagined a local authority could have a sense of humour.

I was initially suprised that someone might not get that reference but google now only seems to link to Delia Smith's 'let's be having you' rant.

It used to be a police meme before memes existed. As in 'Now then, Now then, Let's be having you' (Letsby Avenue)

Thanks Shuvi! I'll plead in my defense that I am Australian so missed the British bobby sayings. Plus we are suffering smoke inhalation so brain function is reduced. wavey

I am sure there are plenty of (younger) brits that would also not know about or notice Letsby Avenue!

Hope the fire thing gets sorted, I understand that some environmentalists and fire fighters? Have been busted for starting some of them??

And I apologise for thinking that you were kidding, I had no idea that you were an Aussie, but as you go in for cooking socks, it’s a cruelly apt name to have right now! eek
