My old man has in the past few months started being like the you don't want to do it like that character from Harry Enfield.

From cutting the grass where he suggests I go the other way to sending a letter where I'm advised a little bit of sticky tape will ensure the contents don't fall out. I go to pick my daughter out some clothes from the shop and he will point to an item on another rail saying get this instead it's a penny cheaper.

FFS at 50 can't I make a sodding decision on my own!!
cut this loser adrift and get a younger bit of arm candy,
unless he's filthy rich that is, don't cut off your money source.
I think meaning of "old man" has been confused here!

The 'Google Profiles' thing that has been 'improved' over the last week or so (for me).

Constant pointless interventions. It has always worked fine for me - Chrome logged into one Gmail account which knows all the website passwords, except Youtube which - just for legacy reasons - uses a different account. But Chrome... just knew... and has always handled the two quietly and efficiently.

Now, I'm plagued by interruptions with Chrome insisting it log me into websites (where before I would just have stayed logged in until the cookie expired) and then fking it up and continuing to show the site's login page when it's actually logged in.

Just fk off. More tech 'progress' for the sake of it.

fking bd loud seagulls flying near my house at 2am making a fking racket until they decide to fk off elsewhere around 5am

Why aren't we allowed to shoot the fkers out of the sky ? furious

And why does PH change the capital F in fking at the beginning of the sentence to a lower case one ?

Noticed the same. In the summer we have the windows open at night. At dawn the birds make a total racket and shut up!

It's been said before, but people discussing holidays online and dropping in the old three letter acronyms for airports.

Yeah yeah mate, flew from LHR to LGA then on to ATL.

Don't do it. Just don't. I have no idea where SDFKDFGODSFKV airport is and I really can't be arsed to look it up. Just say where you're going.

Certainly beyond reason. It it's the holiday forum then I think it's quite fair to use MAN and LHR. Anywhere where people might read who have never flown before, less so.

BMW "Genius" live chat feature

Completely useless. In fairness, it's most of the car industry at the moment.

I have a Tiguan on order (since last November FFS) and the lease company said it's going to be here in the middle of August but it doesn't have a build week yet. If it was going to be here in 5 weeks, it would have a confirmed build week and / or been built and starting to head over.

Guarantee I'll get an email delaying it once more in a few weeks' time. Useless.

With you there entirely. My old man has started to do exactly the same, although much of the advice offered is simply plain wrong.

Worse than that, I've seen the same abbreviations used - on this very website - when just referring to cities in general. I.e. 'I need to drive from LDN to MCR this weekend - what's the best way to go?'. Drive west to St Davids, then keep going.

Estate Agents and their unbelievably stupid insistence on using fking fisheye cameras to photograph houses , thereby making all rooms look trapezoidal and nothing like what they are in real life.
It makes it nearly impossible to work out if the room is even square! It also makes it hard to get an idea of size as they all seem to use different degrees of "fisheye-ness" - at least if they all did it the same way it would help you compare.
There's a house near me that's barely a 1 up 1 down yet it looks huge inside on the estate agent's pictures.
Yes. There's a house for sale near us that I honestly thought had a double garage going by their photos.
I'm as happy to play 'Bash the Estate Agent' as much as the next man but one thing I've discovered recently is that British estate agents have the work ethic of a Protestant navvy paying off a large tax bill when compared to their French counterparts. I've been daydreaming about getting a holiday home in the eastern Pyrenees recently and it's amazing how many French EAs can't be arsed taking more than half a dozen not-very-informative photos, including none of the outside, even when trying to flog decent-sized places for hundreds of thousands of euros.

That's indeed one way of looking along the scale of helpfulness.

Look the other way and you find the US estate agent market, which is light years away from ours. And then there's the Germans; efficient and helpful as you may hope for. My experience dealing with property agents in Ghana and Uganda made me realise afresh how pony-and-trap ours are.

In the world estate agent pile, UK agents are pretty damned near the bottom.

100%. May I refer the honourable gentleman to a thread which may interest him entitled "RightMove equivalent?" in the France section? wink

No, the OP is correct. Is it really that much of a fag to write Heathrow instead of LHR? It just makes you come across as a bit of a bell.

I think it's quite acceptable on the Holiday forum. On here, not so much. Is Man U allowed on the football thread?

The overuse of acronyms and abbreviations is one of my pet hates. It seems everyone does it now, and I feel like I need a dictionary of acronyms just to keep up. If you have to use one, then please, for fk sake (FFS), spell it out and put the abbreviation in brackets after, so I actually know what the fk (WTF) you're talking about.

Totally different.. "Man U" clearly refers to the 21st man named after they started using the "gender followed by sequential letters of the alphabet" naming convention. What's so hard to understand there? tongue out
