I'm pretty sure you're just joking (as he's actually very good) but hearing damage from loud music at a young age is awful. I know because I have permanent tinnitus from not protecting my own ears when I was drumming as a teenager and in my early 20s.

It's sensible that he's protecting his hearing properly.
