nono It was the Rootes Group, Dicky.
Richard wrote Rootes, right?

My phone decided it needed changing.

In any event I've sacked my sub-editor for letting it go if that makes you feel better. You heartless beast. You marble-hearted fiend, you. Him with a young family to feed as well. Shame on you.

A Ferrari Dino if I'm any judge.

Only one out of four ads I viewed depicted a kid wearing a duffle coat*. The rest had anoraks/kagools/waxed jackets etc.

So Bobbers was 300% more correct than I.

* Please look after this Pooh thankyou.smile

You are correct, Dicky!

I'd forgotten the awesome theme tune. earscloud9
For some reason I had Tony Christie's "Avenues and Alleyways"* in my mind.

Nice clip: they wouldn't be allowed to televise that sort of stuff in a programme nowadays. nono

*Just searched: that was the theme from "The Protectives". wink

No disrespect intended towards your virtual hug but actual physical sensations do it for me.

A few spline twisting launches in something quick off the mark would cheer me up better.

Although we could try a real hug if no one's about. See how that goes.
You're not normally that coy!!!

OK, put me down for a couple of armfuls.

Aha, there's a catch, isn't there?
You're going to sting me for postage and packaging, aren't you?

All this free love on offer takes me back to the sixties.

That's over 10 years ago... weeping

Indeed it is, a 1970 Series 1 246GT bought brand new from Ferrari specifically for the show, the chassis number is 00810GT and it still ives in Italy, although the owner has no interest in its part in The Persuaders and keeps it tucked away.

The green car in the colour pic I posted is definitely an Avenger and the pale grey one in front of it is a Vauxhall Viva, both cars most likely being owned by members of the film crew...

The Aston DBS 'BS1' is now owned by a lawyer in the UK, the real reg' number being 'PPP 6H', in one episode a member of the film crew forgot to fit the fake plates and it appeared for a few seconds with the real number showing...

Most of the publicity photos of our Rog with the car show the fake plates but one or two were taken without them fitted...

More trivia is available on request (after lunch) wink

Ta Glenners, every so often I have to let some of it out or I'll burst hehe. I'm sure a bare hug would be very nice, but a bear hug will do for now!

More pointless Persuaders trivia - originally producer Bob Baker wanted to call it 'The Friendly Persuaders' but it didn't sound right so he shortened it. When Tony Curtis arrived at Heathrow in 1970 to start filming, he was met by one of the crew who had to hide Tone's stash of grass in his pocket to get him through customs. Shortly after arriving at Elstree Tone asked Jensen Motors to bring their Interceptor demonstrator down to the studio so he could try it out, he ordered a brand new one straight afterwards and had it delivered to the studio...

Tone with the demonstrator...

And his new toy...

Bonus trivia alert : this part of Elstree Studios was used in 'UFO' as a hospital entrance in a couple of episodes.

Indeed P5B, you are the king of Telly Transport Trivia!!!!
Don't be put off by the thought of one of my bare hugs, once you get used to the sheer amount of body hair, heavy breathing and slight rocking motion, I'm told it's quite an enjoyable experience!!! yes

Rog's DBS V8 was atcherlly a DBS dressed up to look like a DBS V8 because the V8 wasn't ready but would be by the time the programme was aired.

In an attempt to increase efficiency, drive down scrap and generally improve things management have decided to put a blanket ban on mobile phone use on the shopfloor..............this doesn't affect me per se, as I rarely use my phone at work, my issue with this is that as per fking normal, instead of targeting the individuals who consistently flaunt the rules they are inflicting this on everyone!! grumpy

There are magazines for people like you Bobbers nono. I've got a few here you can borrow if you like...!

More Persuaders nonsense…. the first of the twenty four episodes aired in the UK on 17/9/71 and the last one on 25/2/72 (Jason King was aired at the same time on alternate days), the viewing figures were so good that ITC wanted to start on another series, five scripts were quickly written for this second batch but by then Roger had got the call from Cubbie Broccoli to do James Bond so it was cancelled. Shooting began in June 1970 with five weeks in the South of France, the DBS left the Aston factory on 27/5/70 and was tarted up to look like a V8 before being driven to the continent. Tony Curtis wore gloves in virtually all of the episodes to cover the tobacco stains on his hands, he liked a 'bit of a smoke' did our Tone!

My dad had a safari jacket just like Rog's...

From 'The Stage' luvvie newspaper, 26/2/70...
