Just been sort of bumped againby the hospital. No bed for me but can I come in this afternoon and they will put me up in a B&B tonight.

I managed to negotiate that I miss the B&B and just turn up early tomorrow am so they can sort me out for a midday carve up.

B&B! Are they mad? smile

More from my front garden in NJ today. All close ups of the ice that coats every tree. I’m in an area with a lot of trees and it looks amazing when the light catches the ice.

Andy,

I know the emergencies tend to take priority but for you personally that is tough. The mental energy it takes to hype yourself up ready for such a thing cannot be under stated. Hopefully tomorrow then?

As for the weather, totally filthy here in East Berks. Yet more heavy rain is a happening.

Thanks Colin, and thanks to the other chaps for their support. Hopefully tomorrow is the day!

Chucking it down here on the outskirts of MK as well. So many wet days at the mo, pity we can't do a bit of a swap with Australia for a couple of days.

My son is in Sydney, if the wind is in the wrong direction, the smoke is pretty bad. They are worried with their 6 month old baby who they are reluctant to take outside.

My other son and his family are due to fly out to Sydney on Monday for Christmas. Hope the fires don't put a dampener on their hols. (See what I did there...)

And here we are moaning about the wet!

Thanks, to be honest I feel so good I'm working from home today and getting some good work done! I suspect as I had plastic surgery it's less invasive.

I can't believe the woods up here - been living here for 4 years and walking the dog almost every day. I've never seen so much water.
I concur. Walking on the forest is challenging. It's basically a bog now.
We've stopped taking the dog to certain forests as it's just one enormous bog, even the made up gravel roads are a complete mess never mind the grass and mud tracks churned up by the logging vehicles.

Just over the garden fence is Hartlebury Common, ok on the other side of the common towards the river it's always a bit boggy round certain pools, but geologically the common is apparently a windblown sand dune so as dry and well drained as a well drained thing can be. Even in the paths at the very top of the 'dune' where you it's normally like the beach well above high water mark the slightest bit of rain and it's like puddling on the sea shore near the receding tide.

OI !!!

What’s with the thunder, lightning, hail and sheeting rain at Port Solent right now?

More seriously, good luck with the health guys.

Situation report - East Berkshire;

More thunder and lightning in December than through the whole summer.

And much more than enough rain!

Watching the C4 News they predict the temps in Australia will drop 25 degrees over the weekend. That's a bit of a difference.

Funny you should mention that. I've spent most of this evening up in the garage pottering about with the cars in a T-shirt (and suitable trousers).

Perfect temperature for doing stuff, 10c to 12c 'ish.

The rain is getting a bit tiresome though, we could do with some clear cold bright crispy days.

After hours of showers yesterday, it has rained all night on the Suffolk/Norfolk border. No doubt, roads around the village will be flooded once again.
