I wear a regular watch on m my left and my Apple Watch on my right, it’s not an uncommon thing to do
I think you'll find that it is.Lots and lots of people do it all over the world, you just don’t notice as it’s not a particularly standout noticeable thing

I just bought a cheap Chinese Xiomaie (no clue how to spell it let alone pronounce it) from Amazon at the weekend. A massive £27 investment but I had a £5 voucher to use up. I'm actually stunned at what it can do for the price and the 7 day battery life, if it lives up to that claim, isn't too much of a problem.
Some random person in China now knows just how lazy and fat I am and when I'm having a heart attack. Awesome.

So far it's only been a couple of days but it seems to do 90% of the expensive ones for 10% of the cost. Music control is the biggest thing I would add so far but I only listen at home (where I just shout at Alexa) or in the car where I have steering wheel controls.

However, smart watches are soooo last year. What you really need is a completely holistic approach to well being with an Oura Ring which I'm currently waiting to arrive. https://ouraring.com/
Christ, just visited that Oura Ring site and scrolled down to the "Got goals? Oura can help you get there" and looked at the "Sleep Like A Log" image and wondered why I was looking at an image of a couple doing a 69 for a second! Then noticed the hairy calves...Edited by RowntreesCabana on Wednesday 16th January 23:53

Buying a diamond encrusted piece of wearable tech for ~ £1000 that will probably be useless in 4 years is exactly the sort of stupid thing my ex would do. I think I might send her a link.gothatway said:

What wild animals do you murder with that?
Rats, amongst others.Might try one of those traps myself. The rats around here are pretty smart, and have managed to evade just about everything I've tried so far.

Worth buying one if you’ve got a few rats about, with Fenns I was catching one or two every couple of weeks however the bait sometimes went without it going off. Fenns are great for greys, stoats and weasels but these Doc traps are better for rats. Might try one of those traps myself. Trouble is not many places stock them.
Replying to the OP - I have a Huawei band pro 2 which is now very cheap (£39, think I got mine for about £80!) - for the same reason you want one: I wanted something cheap and small with an in built GPS so I didn't need to carry a phone when running.
Its been really useful for tracking runs and activities. It syncs with the Huawei Health app which you use to set up easily on your phone. It collects your heart rate, distance, which it maps out for you from GPS, pace, and gives you some attempt at analysis (like VO2MAX and general anaerobic fitness) and also sleep quality tracker if you wear it overnight. It can be used for walking, running, indoor running (on a treadmill) cycling, and swimming. It's small and light and not noticeable on your wrist. it also syncs with phone to alert you with messages and calls. it buzzes when you hit milestones, like every km running which is useful too.
It's not perfect though:-
1) GPS drains the battery quickly so you probably get 2-4 hours of GPS use (it lasts over 24hrs easily in normal mode), not likely to last you if you are running a slow marathon, but perfect for my 5 km runs, and 90 minute touch rugby sessions
2) The screen is small and unconfigurable so you can't show pace, speed and/or time elapsed at the same time. It's also hard to read when you are running.
3) it doesn't track elevation, and thus won't integrate with Strava, which is a shame as you can't load things up and share activities with your mates
Amazing for the current money though.

Thank you for the long and interesting post. The point I kept is the problem for me, I think. I'd like to keep my Strava up to date... Shame, the search continues.

Although I don't have one of those, I have a few Xiaomi things and the quality has always been spot on. They also seem to make everything, I have a pen, backpack, powerbank and a couple of other Xiaomi bits and as well as being well made, they have been bargains. So far it's only been a couple of days but it seems to do 90% of the expensive ones for 10% of the cost. Given things have moved on from the days of reading a catalogue, free Homebase type literature or maybe even a menu when on the loo / in the bath, I decided to get an iPhone / iPad holder to save my arms / knees from aching. It clamps to the bed, too and can be bent to any shape you wish. I know they have been around for a while, but I just thought I would share as it's not like I really needed it.
