They can't sound very good positioned on a desk like that.
You need some proper nearfield monitors
To my (untrained) ears they sound pretty good - front ported so no 'boom' that I can distinguish, and decent stereo imaging. Dare I ask what I would be missing? You need some proper nearfield monitors
Quite close (if not right up against?) a wall = significant bass reinforcement.
Sitting close to speakers intended to be 2m+ away from the listener = imbalanced sound.
At a guess, I would suggest that you have a sound that is lacking in mid range.
Because the speakers are against a wall, the bass will be emphasised, and because you sit so close to them, the treble will be emphasised.
I'm guessing the bass reinforcement compensates for the excess treble - however - as I said above - it's probably the mid range that's suffering for it.
The positioning also suggests that you probably have some weird stereo effects too.
But *most* importantly - if you're happy with the sound - what does it matter?
However, I'm willing to bet that if you placed them on a decent pair of stands, about 50cm from the wall - you'll be surprised at what you've been missing.
