I was chatting with my uncle about the number of "celebrity" deaths this year and we came to the conclusion that yes, it had been a bad year, he put it down to the rise of tv ownership from the 60's onwards. The youngsters that suddenly got mass exposure at the time (IE they were late teens, early twenties, just as bands are today) are now the oldies that are popping off now they are in their 70's. I think he had a very good point.
He does.

Must have been the last remaining cast member of Porridge other than Biggins, even Ronnie went back in '05.

It appears he lived just down the road from me as well. A loss of a very popular actor.

hehe Patricia Blake, Fletch's daughter. 74, not dead, listed on IMDB as being in Casualty last year, was in Coronation Street 10 years ago and is filming something now. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0104113/

Dan Peacock, Rudge in the movie, is only 58. Sam Kelly, Bunny Warren, is 70. There are lots of Porridge actors still alive.

Apparently of cancer, diagnosed a few weeks ago. It's just so scary how quick the big C can take people. My Gran was gone within 6 weeks of diagnosis.

It's on his website.
