Treated myself to a Kershaw Pub from HH (special offer, £19.50).
I do like a friction folder, they help overcome our stupid no-locking laws, and I've had my eye on these for a while.
The quality feels good, very nice for the money. It is sort of possible to one-hand open it, but it's not easy. I've taken to starting it against my thigh when I take it out of my pocket. The ball detent is definitely there; it's not as clicky-positive as some, but then it's smoother to use. The blade is hair popping sharp out of the packet
With the long jimped spine, it's never going to close up on you, but my thumb wants to sit a little far forwards, over the pivot, so it's not quite as reassuring as it should be until I adjust my grip back a bit. And I'm not sure why the finger-shaped curve is at the top when open, it'd be nicer on the bottom edge, or maybe for the back slope of the blade against the front of the scales to form a wider/smoother finger choil, rather than a fairly narrow V.
I like that the folding lever forms a carabiner shape - one problem I've had EDCing friction folders is the lever is often an annoying sticky-out pokey thing in my pocket. OTOH, it does make it harder to tell which way around the knife is without looking, at the moment.
Overall, though, I rather like it, especially for 20 quid, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it does in EDC.
I bought this a few years ago, and yes, it can easily be opened single-handed. There's definitely a knack to it, however.I do like a friction folder, they help overcome our stupid no-locking laws, and I've had my eye on these for a while.

It's not a very practical design, however; you can't attach it to a keyring because it then hinders the knife from fully opening.
So it just lives in my desk, and my Spyderco Bug lives on my keyring.

Looks decent apart from I don’t like the bottle opener on the end. Puts me off when manufacturers add extraneous stuff plus it looks like it might catch on your jeans pocket etc
I did wonder, but seems ok so far (after just 2 days ). It's nicely rounded/smoothed back in, so things tend to run over it rather than being grabbed. Haven't tried opening a bottle with it yet, mind.TheJimi said:

I'll keep practising with one hand then I can do it, but it's not a smooth motion yet. It's not a very practical design, however; you can't attach it to a keyring because it then hinders the knife from fully opening.

I don't keep a knife on my keys, but I'll pretty much always have one in my pocket.

I think I’ve picked a date in the next few weeks so will try to do a few photos and feedback
I'll look forward to seeing how you get on. I had an idea of what I wanted to make and took a printed paper template with me. I'm glad I did as the other guy who took the course at the same time didn't have a clear idea of what he wanted to make and I think he left with something that wasn't as finished and probably wouldn't get as much use.indigochim said:

Wanted to know how to fix that.
Wife said go make one. I think it is a big chefs knife type build.

I mean, it’s very ugly. Looks like you work on a North Sea trawler gutting fish
We were issued with Morakniv when we worked at sea. Brilliant bits of kit, especially at the price. I always have a few dotted about, the robust being my favourite.
Anyway, here's a pic of my grandads old bartender's knife.
Ridiculously easy to get razor sharp.
OK not cosmetically nice to look at but a well used working knife.
Used to be in the Royal Navy and I used this as a rigging knife.
Used to keep it razor sharp. I've used it as a knife, chisel and like a hatchet.
It's some kind of military survival knife that I got from stores.
Brilliant bit of kit and actually very heavy..
