They'd still rob their gran, but the difference is they would be able to tell a great story about how they were great because of it and you'd believe it.
hehe Almost nail on head, except I am far too cynical to believe most of them!

You’re not trying hard enough.

I had a business importing supercars from Europe. Had a few cash flow issues but by a stroke of good luck I met my long lost brother who I haven’t seen since I was very small. Turns out he has a form of autism that means he can “count cards”. We drove to Vegas (he won’t fly) in our Dad’s old car and made $100m. It was such good fun.

With the money I bought a fleet of M4s and Golf Rs as they are faster than super cars and now run my own lease company.

And I’m his brother.

I'm 23 and live in the North West, £37k + 22% pension - Still relatively junior in my field, will be hoping to move over to contracting in the coming years after working with multiple contractors and seeing their day rates hehe

Plot twist, i actually enjoy the work...it's what I went to university to study for, and i can't imagine doing another career.

I'm content, and i'll take that. Life is stressful enough without adding work issues and worries into the mix.

It’s an interesting challenge (I’m sure books have been written about it). As you become a more senior partner you are able to influence things like partner promotions, so if you have a more senior partner sponsor who’s prepared to spend their political capital on a director then it works pretty easily

The staff turnover in my team is extremely low as I’m able to make sure the majority of people get what they deserve on pay rises or promotions. It helps that my business is one of the most profitable in the firm.

Anyone aspiring to be a partner should watch the entire run of house of cards with Kevin spacey, it’s not dissimilar minus the deaths obviously !
hehe Which elements are closest to 'the real world' you work in? Tactics in influencing individuals for roles or otherwise?

Good for you tbh.

Work to live. Not the other way round.

If you can do a job you enjoy with no stress that's a massive positive in my book.

Been chasing the elusive pound for very long and highly pressured hours since 1977. Been earning enough to be reasonably comfortable for the last 20 years - not massive amounts like the powerful company directors on here, but 6 figures. Got divorced this year (4 year process) so took some time off and haven’t worked since January 12th.

Been a fantastic year, spent a lot of money (bought the new squeeze “her dream” Merc SLC and myself a nice but used sports cruiser boat), travelled a lot to find an area where I want to buy a house in Spain / Portugal - great road trips, boat trips and had a few holidays too.

So, my P11D so far this year shows income ZERO! My costs this year have been about £140k out of savings. The decision was to do it now or do it when I am totally decrepit, so took the risk and had a sort of a gap year smile

Next year will be a bit different, back to work plan is coming together, a decent salary again but will not outstrip the spending as I have now found the area I want to live when I retire to the sun. So we will buy something there cash very soon, work here in the UK for a few years with the house in Spain on long term rent and then leave once the pension (screwed by divorce) and savings are refilled - unless Labour get in and we will leave immediately and work a little bit when we get there, but just for some beer money part time, or doing something low pressure we want to do rather than have to do.

So, compared to most on here, I currently earn very little.

What do you do? Spending the ages of 19-26 in a high-stress job (when you're clearly not enjoying it) sounds awful. They should be the best years of your life.

I had a very busy job between 20-30. It wasn't stressful particularly and I loved it.

If you can, make a (planned) change as soon as you can.
