Does it count as frivolous that I have chosen a car almost because it was an ex-Police car rather than a non-Police variant of the same car?
Depends. Will you be wearing a 'POLITE' hi-vis vest and black baseball cap when driving it?Along with some roof bars with strategically positioned blue tape

Not frivolous at all then!
Just your mental health issues manifesting themselves. And these days we have to celebrate that, and not take the piss

But perhaps what will be frivolous would be if I bought a few Nerf/Super Soakers and put them into the recess which I believe may have been where the gun locker was kept in the back?

what? He did nothing at all to offend annoy or upset me. Why give abuse to other PHers?
I could argue that your post does though, by suggesting that I don't understand the context within which V8Mate made his comment
Well I've tried the kayak now and it's great. Not the fastest thing I've ever paddled but it feels incredibly stable.
The helmet, Gul Evo 2 is very comfortable and after a while I forgot that I was wearing a lid.
I wish my cycling helmet was this nice to wear.
Paddle is ok but I think I will be getting a slightly longer 2 piece in the future.
I did about 8 miles on the cut in fairly strong winds and it was a fantastic shoulder workout.
Water was crystal clear in Tipton and it was nice to chill out in the Lilly pads.
It went back in the bag fairly easily but the paddle didn't fit but I will experiment with different folding methods or cheat and buy a bigger bag.

Best bit of kayaking advice I can give is that it's your core that paddles, not your arms. You're really aiming to keep your arms in a fixed position, and rotate your body for the power stroke. Best seen looking at a K1 sprinter front on. No need to be that extreme though! (their paddles are very different, and you can't pull them through the water parallel to the kayak, it has to go away as you pull back).
That way, you get the ability to do some serious miles...

I can't visualize that at all! Do you have a video showing what you mean?It took me years to nail!
Notice how the arms only change the amount of bend at the elbow at the very end of the stroke, to lift the blade out of the water.
Now, you won't find this stroke particularly easy in a non-racing boat - notice also the amount of effort through the legs braced against a very solid bar in a kind of peddling technique. Also, as mentioned, racing blades have a cross section like a comma, so move through the water diagonally.
However the principle, which is trained using the 'visualisation' of a broomstick stuck down your back which keeps you both upright, and rotating around it, is key - that's how people do immense mileage (a routine race is 12 miles, with fairly common events such as "DW" (Devises to Westminster) being over ten times that...

Running watch broke... so just ordered a new Garmin Forerunner 245 Music. Heart rate sensor, and music storage so I can go phone free when I go out for a run, works in the pool, and has some smart watch functions/all day tracking etc. It's pretty small too!
Then of course I need some bluetooth headphones. I was hugely sceptical, but trialled these bone conducting Aftershokz Trekz Air in the store and the effect was extraordinary. Hopefully they'll be ok on the move too.
Can't wait! Have been wanting my other watch to die for a couple of years!!

Being able to hear like normal while the songs are playing inside your head is an interesting experience! I wouldn't buy again, but wouldn't send them back. I suppose if you're really safety conscious and want to hear the world around you and get some tunes at the same time, while not expecting best sound quality they are a good choice.
I think they'll be ok for running outside, but in the gym where you just want to block out the piped in music, treadmill noise etc they'll be hopeless... so true to this thread I now need another pair of wireless bluetooth headphones
I use them for daily 5 k runs so I can hear traffic around me better than my Bose or a pair of Bluetooth ear buds https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07JLZX7RS/ref...
Which for the price are amazing for running and discrete enough for work where I keep a second pair.
The problem with the bone ones is sunglass arms interfere with the ear hook and lift the conductive pad.
I notice it’s possible to get sunglasses and bone headphones combined but I’d rather have one or the other.

Excellent. Picked one up of the same vintage recently. Incredible value really. 12mpg in 2019 counts as frivolous I'm sure though P38 for use at weekends to throw my clay pigeon shooting gear in - check

I bought a big inflatable dinghy from Makro when younger with a mate and it had quite a bit of space, maybe this would be a better option than the canoe for camping etc, it was good fun taking it out on lakes in sunny weather and floating around.
It was just like this and at the time cost about £80 or so:
Last Saturday I did 26km from Wolfratshausen to Munich in that boat. 5 of us in it + beer. 6h of floating interspersed with manic paddling to avoid trees, banks and weirs. It was just like this and at the time cost about £80 or so:
We do it most years and its a great way to spend a day. Cant fault the boat. We just ordered another 3 of them for a mates 40th in a few weeks when there will be 20 of us doing the trip.
