What are people's thoughts of these? They are Oliver Sweeney Aldeburgh in black. looking for a few smart shoes to wear to work. Probably look at getting some Loakes or Churches as a second pair if I decide to keep these.

They look great, although I'm not au fait with the brand. Where do they sit on the quality ladder?![](http://thumbsnap.com/sc/24S0CTzO.jpg)

Sweeney are at the £300 mark generally. I quite like them but their design feature of the chunky soles is not for everyone.
Google suggests you can readily get them for £130-£140 - not that price is important, if you like them buy them. Personally I don't like the pale stitching but that will soon go black once you polish them . maniac886 said:

Glad you asked. I think they are hateful.![](http://thumbsnap.com/sc/24S0CTzO.jpg)
I don't like the look of the leather and I think the light sole unit with white stitching look should be forgotten along with 2015.
I don't have a major issue with Sweeney, aside from the fact that they have become the shoe of choice for aging, goateed ex doormen.

Cheers - having tried them on indoors they are slightly on the large side so I will probably end up returning them . I have seen a pair of Loake Aldwych that I like the look of so will probably get them as a replacement.I don't like the look of the leather and I think the light sole unit with white stitching look should be forgotten along with 2015.

Might be a trick of the light/flash but they look very shiny all over to me, so could well be corrected grain, coated leather. If so, they might not take any products very well as they are essentially waterproof.
Very observantThey are v shiney, not been polished in two years (ahem)

That's quite a niche demographic. I don't like the look of the leather and I think the light sole unit with white stitching look should be forgotten along with 2015.

Quick heads-up - The code AMZ12 gets you £10 off at Charles Tyrwhitt. Their popular Cedar shoe trees are thus £14.90 delivered. I just ordered a pair.

You can only use the code once though![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
Thanks for this just ordered another set of shoe trees - never can have too many. ![](http://thumbsnap.com/sc/vMRhUKJq.jpg)

And just to let people know the code still works.

i have them in brown for work. comfiest shoes i have owned straight out of the box, fit my feet perfectly. the comments on the chunky sole don't apply as these don't have the weird angular ones of old. ![](http://thumbsnap.com/sc/24S0CTzO.jpg)
tbh though they don't look good in black.
