I think at this point it's wise to expect sleety raini if you're south of M62 unless up at 300m and to be pleasantly surprised if you get snow, let alone lying snow.

It's looking like a long cold snap though. Should be more opportunities for snow...

Everything still very much up in the air.

Good luck hehe

(north of M4, south of M62 is the current bet - could be large totals like a foot, might be nothing).

Buxton is in the sweet spot - the 300m height will help massively in this marginal event.

Heading to Manchester Sunday for a few days, likely to see any snow?
Driving up from Swansea.
Forecasters are struggling for tonight/tomorrow - forget about Sunday. Be prepared though.

Just had a squall line pass through Berkshire, and the temperature has plummetted 5 degrees.

Met office warning area for Sunday. Again, marginal event, some will see rain or nothing. Higher ground counts for a lot!

Southampton has had this. Thought it was odd to be almost 13 degrees this morning! Looking at about 13 lower in 24 hours.
Not good for lying snow - ground is warm and moist.

The Met office have caved for the SE and stuck this up. Shouldn’t be to challenging for my 4x4 on all seasons smile

As much as this will come to nothing except drizzle, it’s still nice to see the snowflake on the forecast.

Oi - get out of my village!!

Funny old thing.

We've been downgraded for tomorrow and upgraded for Sunday!
The forecast for this cold spell is utterly baffling. Multiple small low pressure systems, the jet stream sitting incredibly close by, warm air getting wrapped in to the low pressure systems with cold air.

An utter ball ache for the pros, the models can't handle it.

MetOffice model chart for Monday - if this comes off, the South is going to get buried...

ECM snow depth chart for Monday 9am (that's in inches...). ECM is the best verifying model of the lot. We have some straws to clutch on to in the South!

Sunday's snow charts looking good if you live between M4 and M62. On current forecasts the central part (ie Brum) due to get wallopped.

For those local to me (Reading-ish) - forget about it. Snowdonia is creating an amazing snow-shadow. There'll be snow just to the north, and maybe to the south - but we're getting none today.
