When my parents had this inglenook fireplace built in 1999 they noticed that the builder had put a line of thin bits of brick down the left hand side rather than spacing them before they started and it's always annoyed my step dad
TBF It's probably better than trying to centre it perfectly and being 5cm out!morgs_ said:

Shirley that's not the worst bit, the log burners not even in the middle! That would really annoy me...Hoonigan said:

The rug is not central.
In order of annoyance:-Log burner would do my nut - I'd have to move that immediately
Rug - easy but very important fix
Cant tell if it is a lens effect but the plug sockets on the right don't look parallel to the floor. Unacceptable!
Brick issues - either I'm not seeing it or I'm cured!

I'm not certain that it's an Inglenook though - isn't that when the fire's in a walk in alcove?

Also the bond is different at the back of the fireplace - can't remember the names but above the mantel is straightforward overlapping bricks and the back has some a 90 degrees.
<brickwork geek mode> Flemish bond at the back, stretcher bond above the lintel and (annoyingly to the reveals too). The bonding in the back has not been set out from the centre resulting in different narrow widths of brick showing at each end of alternate course (which I think is the OPs's issue). Had the opening been built a few mm narrower, the whole thing would have been less visually 'jarring' (and the brickie could have got away with his poor setting out).As already said though, it would be a secondary annoyance compared with the offset wood burner position I bet the OP is well pleased he even mentioned it now!

Are you talking about the bricks at the back on the right hand side of the picture?john2443 said:

Nope. The upper units.. the handles are mirrored on the right - but not on the left.
If you study the base units on that wall they're hinged any way they want, to be honest the wall units could be hinged two left hanged doors on the left and two right hanged doors on the right or as is the right hand side in the picture a pair of doors either side. What would really get me is the fake pillars on the wall units, one on the left next to the kitchen door and a pair either side of the hob but not one on the right next to the wall.

to be fair the teacher probably had to write out 40 of those whilst probably having her nerves completely torn ragged by 40 children just like yours, hopped up on the child-crack you probably fill their lunchbox with.
