Potential to be high if planing across the stiles. Planers can split out the edges of stiles nicely

Frivolous but inexpensive

Box of O rings and jubilee clips from Lidl, change from £10

Have never used an O ring and the last time I used a Jubilee clip was 40 years ago

I bought a similar one from Aldi or Lidl since years back. Only needed 2 sizes but well worth it as Yamaha wanted something silly like a fiver for a couple of them.

After popping into Screwfix a few weeks ago to get an L bracket and returning with the L bracket and a Makita LXT brushless Drill/Impact Driver set with which to fit the said bracket, my old forbetterforworser mentioned a door was brushing against the new carpet.

Now I have a new Makita LXT planer to remove a millimetre or two off the bedroom door.

Frivolous or essential? And what's the potential of buggering up the job with only Youtube videos as instruction?
My power tool rule: Any cordless tool, accessory or battery which is compatible with my existing kit is deemed an 'investment'
Mine is "If it can't be done with a power tool, it can't be done!"

I'll take it easy, marking/scoring the area all round, working from the outside to the middle on both sides and doing multiple passes on the lowest setting.

The worst that could happen is I ruin the door and/or take a mm out of my leg. hehe

I just bought this and now I am off back to work on a ship without having had a chance to get it fitted, so it is just a massive box in the kitchen:

Both good. Also "I know I could manage this job without that new tool, but it's bound to come in very handy for the rest of my life."

Well I didn’t injure myself but we need a new door. It was all going so well. I took a couple of mm off in 0.5 mm passes, rehung the door and it was dragging on the carpet much less. Mrs T wanted another 2mm off so I repeated the process. How was I to know the door was hollow and the bottom was only 3mm thick? D’oh!

Surely you can just glue a thin panel into the whole hole at the bottom? Seal the bottom of the door then and save you the cost of a whole door.

Vinyl strip or something?

I picked one up in PoundLand or PoindWorld a few weeks ago with a pack of clear glue sticks and a pack of mixed colour glitter glue sticks for the combined price of £4

No, you need a 3d printer, a new computer to design stuff and a cnc machine. (as well as the glue gun). Obviously. (to stick with the thread...)

Buy a new identical door
Cut the piece off the new door you need
Fix the old door
Bin the now ruined door
That's frivolous?!

Well I bought another torch, don't need one but thought I'd take a punt on a properly cheapo one off eBay that looked reasonable.

£13 got me the torch, rechargeable battery, charger and every conceivable option to plug in the charger!

For what is essentially a six quid torch it's surprisingly well put together and stupidly bright! Not bad for a cheap bit of Chinese kit.

I suspect you could use that as a hand warmer too. For a while, at least.

One of the many "cheap tat" websites that advertises on Facebook was offering me a set of tyre deflation spikes for £1.something. The type James Bond would use.

Can't find the post now to link back to (or purchase from) but they sound nicely frivolous to keep in the glovebox, right?

I saw those! Think it was Wish or one of those random sites.

Basically like metal start type things to lay on the road. Not convinced they're legal! haha

Yes, just seen them again, they are £7 now, but still, who wouldn't want them?!
