Get a fair few round my way (south herts).

GF and I sat at the local pub in my village, and we see two roll up in/on a horse and trap. They do the usual causing a bit of a scene but settle down to have a pint.

20 minutes later, three more horse and traps, a brand new white transit van, and a brand new audi A2 roll up, theres a good 10 of the scum now, generally being loud and obnoxious in the pub car park, whilst the beer garden patrons looked on.

Out strides the landlord, who must be in his 60s...fronts up to all of these s and tells them in no uncertain terms to f*ck off. Fair play to him, it was pretty tense.

They get in his face a bit, but ultimately comply, leaving in a similarly dischordant fashion as they arrived in.

My GF is from the USA, i had told her about gypsies before, but this is the first time she actually witnessed them "in action"...she remains amazed that they are allowed to more or less do as they please, in her own words, they'd end up getting shot pretty quickly in the states.

She also couldn't get over the langauge and behavior of the kids, hanging out of the car windows screaming obscenities at the landlord and his wife.

Also caught three of them cruising our neighbourhood around 3am last week in a transit tipper, looking for stuff to steal.

In their rootling around they set a car alarm off (i thought it was my integra), so went out to have a look. They rumbled off after i had been stood on the drive a couple of minutes, but it all looked highly suspect. Have a feeling i've seen the same van a few times late at night mooching about.

Harlow appears to have a working solution to repel these parasites:

Yet another story about travelling scum:

I used to live in Eight Ash Green and still have friends there, the cricket club is run by volunteers who all put a lot of hard work into making it a success, I'm gutted for them.

Got a few around where we live - permanent site about 4 miles down the road.

At the weekend heard an almighty bang, 4 up in a AMG Mercedes c43 - failed to negotiate a roundabout and ploughed straight into the giveaway sign, and onto the roundabout itself. Driving like idiots.

Went out to take a look and found a neighbour grappling with one/two of them - apparently trying to get his mobile phone off of him as he'd taken pics of them. Luckily a few of us were now out and they thought better of it.

Police were called - but they took off on foot down the dual carriageway/over the fields - so we had the police helicopter overhead for a while.

While talking to the neighbour later on - tatty van pulls up - slight brogue accent asking where the lads were ... (obviously they'd phoned the local campsite and they'd come out to try and help them get away)

Hope the police got them - saw video from a neighbours CCTV of how fast they were driving - sincerely hope they are battered and bruised from the crash.

In my mind - if they don't want to live by decent standards - then sod em

The Edinburgh Taxi trade have been fundraising and running an outing for disabled kids for the last 70 years; they go to great lengths to decorate their cabs, then drive in a convoy to Musselburgh to get ice cream, then head down the coast to Yellowcraigs beach/car park where they have a marque etc. But not this year. The travelling scum arrived last week, cut the barrier, and despite politely being asked to move to allow the disabled kids their day in the sun, they refused. Thankfully a local business stepped in and an alternative venue was arranged at the last minute. The last time they were here they threw excrement at the local warden and abused everyone in authority daring to confront them. When they left it cost the local authority thousands to clear up. Yet the virtue signalling imbeciles in the Scottish Government have been busy legislating to give this "minority group" even more rights....

Even since I was 11 - no matter where my folks ( or I as an adult moved to ) -the friendly travelling folk turned up, stayed, and left the place cleaner than they left it.

Oh no wait - they didn't.

Actually - this is much closer to the reality.

Now - I am sure there are travelling folk that are caring, non thieving etc etc.
I am just unlucky enough not to have met them.

Maybe one day - the next batch will be them

They certainly are an interesting bunch.
They were loitering around here a couple of weeks back trying to get some work from our next door neighbour, who is a vulnerable adult. They hung around for ages and after a while the police turned up to have a chat with them, after that they went.

Last week my Mrs heard something in the daytime when the bloke next door is out. She had a look and found 1 of the travellers in next doors garden, she questioned him and he was looking for a lost ball!!!!
Of course he was.

Last night about 11.30 the back window on our car was caved in.

Coincidence?

We've been here 15 years and hardly see or here anything. I'm just wondering if we'll get another visit tonight?

Would harder measures against these caravan utilising nomadic travellers be a vote winner?

So many on here with first hand experience seem to feel that there seems to be double standards allowing them to live a criminal and socially exclusive lifestyle in the way that they do while normal society keeps paying to clear up after their cultural visits.

It would need to be a centre right party at least. Go on Teresa, drop fox hunting and give this a go smile

I was in my local Homebase the other evening in Broadstairs, i over heard that these lovely cheeky chappies had popped in and now were 15 lay z boy spas at £400 a pop down.. last week in a field behind the local Sainsburys i counted 5 caravans, now between that and another field close by there must be over 20.

Broadstairs you say. Hmmm, I fancy one of those spa's on the cheap. Bit far to travel from leicester though

I suspect not.

Corbyn promised new laws to protect their lifestyle and it seemed to get him lots of votes.

I very much doubt the majority of Labour supporters give two sts about travellers or even knew that he planned to let them away with even more. I'm not really sure why he made it part of his manifesto but it seemed to go largely unnoticed.

We have them in Shepton Mallet at the moment causing all sorts of grief for locals. The council got a court order to move them off the playing fields and they were evicted by bailiffs this morning. They drove about half a mile up the road and some managed to get into the local park and the others blocked the main road through town. The ones on the road have now been moved apparently, not sure about the ones in the park. Its beyond me how so few cause so much mess and annoyance to others in such a short space of time. Need a few army tanks to start crushing vehicles!!!
