Gay Byrne (1934-2019)
Yes, I remember him from Granada Reports, with Bill Grundy.

Apart from the Beatles, they also featured a young upcoming American folk singer, Paul Simon, before the success of I am a Rock.
IIRC he also had Westlife on his show for the 1st time, dancing like idiots(not quite in the same talent league)
And that famous clip with him & Stephen Fry talking about God
That’ll be Boyzone then... easy mistake to make with prefabricated bands.
Late to the party, but this is a little known video clip of Byrne receiving a present from U2. His reaction is priceless.

It's not that great a Bond title, is it. I bet George would give anything for the Spectre of these puns to be lifted, so he could get a Quantum Of Solace...

For this who aren't keen to click - the report relates to former Labour MP and cabinet minister - Frank Dobson.

Not that well known in the UK although he did appear in British films and TV shows from time to time.

Not my cup of tea politically, but a somewhat more honourable MP than most of the current mob.

You think 74 is old these days?
Or are you measuring in troll days?

The average female life expectancy in the UK is 80. I think its probably more likely "old age" than a curse. She was just a bit earlier than others.
