Couple of pairs of New Balance Pro Courts, grey suede and navy canvas......

How do New balance fit ? Want some 420's but been told by some they come up small. Others true to size.

Not cheap at around £480 but I am tempted by the white and blue ones.
They are horrible.

They're bloody awful, too.

Some people really do have more money than taste.

What's up with them?
It's a pair of white trainers.

I look forward to seeing photos in the watch forum that now contain not only an Aston steering wheel and a £20k watch but also a pointlessly expensive white trainer covered foot bent up and resting on the steering wheel too.

I normally distrust your judgement and opinion, but on this you're bang on.

They look cheap. They have no style. They look like something a pensioner would wear on a cruise. With long white socks and pastel shorts.

If you really want to spend a few hundred on a white trainer, buy the RAF Simons x Adidas Stan Smith. Apparently the leather is a step up from the standard Stan.

Actually, just buy the regular Stan Smith and a pair of mono Converse. You've got a chunkier shape in one without being pensioner looking, and a low profile pair of Converse. You'll even have £350 or more in change.

In short I think those Valentino shoes are absolutely, indescribably awful.

So why would anyone pay the asking price for those (or those awful Valentinos further up) When for considerably less outlay you an have a shoe that is visually similar made by Adidas and thus wont hurt your feet and will last probably longer?

Adidas Rod Laver

These "designer" shoes bear none of the quality of mainstream brands. There's 1 type or nothing so unlike Adidas, Nike et al you cant choose a colour way you particularly like to compliment whatever you're wearing. Even the common brogue will differ slightly between the premium makers like Loakes or Churches. People see those brands and they know the craftsmanship and skill therein.

Cheaply made overpriced (and fundamentally ugly) shoes are not acceptable if you're just doing it because the price is daft.

The Valentino and Common Projects have nicer leather than the Adidas and will be made in Italy, which matters to some people. Still not worth the price though and Common Projects have raised their price almost double in the last few years because of their rise in popularity.

Saying that id still buy the Adi Rod Lavers, best looking of the bunch.

You could try and track a pair of these down in your size, its fun to try and get something limited and not just off the shelf. The quality will be great, they are made in Germany so not Vietnam/Indonesia like a lot of trainers!

If you like the look!

Valid point, the leather quality is just one aspect the other big thing for me is the exclusivity i.e not looking like a 'photocopy' of everyone else whist I'm out and about. I already own a pair of the Valentino camo sneakers and tbh they are awesome, In paris last week had about 4 people ask where they're from and who made them.

The common projects are abit rich for plain whites i guess.

None of these white trainers look terribly practical for, um, leaving the house in?

ETA
Actually they look suitable for playing crown green bowls in, but then presumably you would carry them in a separate bag. I would ask my Grandmother (who used to play) were she still alive.
