Apparently not everyone has the gene that can detect the smell.

All I can tell you is that after dinner tonight, if there is a gene, I have it!

Still curious as to what causes it

I may not have this 100% correct so musos; feel free to correct...

Festival acoustics are generally awful; partly due to the open air nature and partly due to the fact that the band don't have the luxury of being able to do a sound check.Band members wear earpieces that take the feed directly from the mixer desk so they are hearing exactly what the audience hears and so each band member plays to that.

The problem is on stage, you 'feel' the drums as much as you would hear them and there a slight latency in the drum being hit and it then be heard through the player's earpiece so the effect is that the band slows itself down waiting for the latency to catch up which never comes. The screens remove or dull the 'pump' of the drums so the rest of the band plays to time.

I recall that Pete Townsend uses them as he has an issue with his hearing.

PS. What did the drummer get on his IQ test? Saliva.
I assumed it was to protect them from being hit by a 2 litre bottle of piss.

Or twiglets. Eat a whole "drum" of twiglets then pee. It honks.

I thought it was also a gene that causes the smell at all that some people have and some don't.

So the pee may or may not smell AND you may or may not be able to smell it.

5 valve cylinder heads.

Are they still in vogue? Wasn't it Audi who trumpeted their adoption in the A4, another usp over the inferior rwd efforts from their countrymen?

I understand it helps the 'breathing', but has emissions control overtaken this element? Is it still fitted to high output R8 engines etc?

Actually, this has to be decided on factors other than the name. In some places there is only a disabled toilet, in which case able bodied people may use it too. The toilet is marked as disabled because it has been designed to meet those requirements.

If OTOH there are other toilets, then able-bodied people should use those.

I think you can/should. I don't think they are disable ONLY toilets, more disabled priority toilets surely?

5 Valver in my Wife's Mk 4 Golf.

Boring, crappy, characterless and slow engine.

They went back to the old motor after a very short time.

If you can get into them. You might find they can only be accessed by using a Radar key to unlock them.

I'm pretty sure, okay I'm cynically sure, that VAG only every made a 5 valve engine so they could say the first A4 were 20v like the old Quattros.

Saying that, the Ferrari 355 was 5v too.

Why do so many people buy very expensive cars and then not drive them much? There's an advert on a PH page showing various Aston Martins several years old , some of them having done less that 3,000 a year.
