Have a look on ebay.
Many of these battery packs find their way into RC models.(the adult ones not the toy things)
They are also used in things like satellite meters and other professional meters and electronic kit
Failing that there companies about that will build any battery combination you require.

The connector will be a standard electronic lead albeit not something you will pick up in an electrical shop. RS components or Farnell CPC may be able to help.
Yeah, you'll normally be able to get pretty much any type of cell pack from the usual scumbags. Just make sure the form factor/connector is the same, the voltage matches, the mAh rating is at least what your current one is, and - critically - the battery chemistry is the same (e.g. don't be tempted to go for a LiPo when you currently have NiMh, the charging profiles are completely different and things can get burny).

Many years ago I was annoyed when the battery in a baby monitor failed after only a year and wasn't willing to pay the extortionate amount the manufacturer wanted for a replacement so I looked into buying a replacement myself. Due to MOQs I ended up buying a few dozen cells, connectors, heat-shrink etc. and making my own replacements and punting the ones I didn't need on Ebay. They lasted about twice as long as the OEM packs.

People who say "perfect" when they mean "ideal" or "that will do nicely".

eg.
Them: "That'll be £10 please"
I hand over a £20 note
Them: "Perfect!"
Me: "Actually, hold on, I have a £10 note"
Them: "Even better!"

Even better than perfect? Blimey.
David Jason, from the 'Darling Buds of May' 1980's. He said it as 'perfeck' , obviously still doing the rounds.

New keyboards where function keys have been relegated to secondary key choice. I now need to press a new <Fn> key to use them. The <Fn> key is squeezed inbetween the <Ctrl> and <Win> keys and I keep pressing it by accident. Why? why? why?

Thanks for the reminder. I've got a 9/16ths socket that needs replacing after my brother borrowed the set for a couple of weeks. It's cracked, so about as much use as tits on a fish. And of course "it was fine when I used it", and "I don't think I even used the 9/16ths, everything on my car is metric". Well that might cause it to crack - wedging an imperial socket onto a metric fastener.

Is there a function lock toggle key or sequence? On my work Lenovo holding Fn and hitting Esc does this. The Esc key has the helpful "FnLock" subscription to signify.

Thank you for this information. I have been wondering why f5 has not been refreshing the page. I works now that I know about that fn (fkn) button.

My OctoPi has died. Won't boot. It's probably just a simple fix but might be the SD card is corrupted or something (we had a couple of power cuts not that far apart a while ago and I've not used it since).

Anyway, I came to plug the card into my work laptop as it's the only thing I have with a full SD card reader...and it's a new laptop since I last tried this and the fking thing only has a MicroSD card slot.

I now have to spend a whole 99p to get a SD card reader but this means I can't use the 3D printer[1] until I get it (which won't be until after the weekend I'm sure) and that's sorted. Which *then* means I can't print what I wanted[2] and *that* means I can't fit the door latches to the GT40.

Gah. It's not a big deal, I could nip out and get a reader if it was or just rebuild the bloody thing on a MicroSD card (with a MicroSD to SD adaptor) but it's bloody annoyed me.

[1] Well I could but it would mean I'd have to fk about with it as it's all setup to use the OctoPi...and then I'd have to put it back to how it is again.
[2] 3D printers are awesome things for templates/holding fixtures and prototypes!

I understand a lot of the words but not a single sentence! What's an octopi or what are octopi?

Sorry for your loss.

Oh, and it's my Octopi have died, or my octopus has died. Specialist aquarium shops may be able to help...

OctoPi is a product name, so OctoPi is singular. The plural would be OctoPis.

OctoPi - OctoPrint for the Raspberry Pi. OctoPrint is a web interface for 3D printers.
