Cheap tat bought from the far east

Anyone ever bought any power tools from AliX?
I bought a "Devon" brand corded router. I did a bit of homework first and established that a) the brand is actually a legit one aimed at professionals in Asian markets, and b) the seller had good written feedback from a range of buyers, and c) it wasn't stupidly cheap. As it turned out, it's a brilliant piece of kit. Nicely made, good fit and finish and functions perfectly. If you painted it blue and stuck a Makita badge on it, I wouldn't question it.

£3.70. This one came earlier. I was so impressed I went back and bought a few more circuits. The downstairs loo is full of number plates etc so they will fit nicely in there! Small warning though, cheap crap is now attracting tax which is added at the checkout and a lot of Chinese sellers have stopped shipping to the UK.

Maybe coincidence; however just bought a couple of these are reading this thread, and immediately after had a fraud alert from AMEX ref Amazon prime, like I say, maybe coincidentally timed, but just in case I thought I’d mention it here.https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001793756400.h...

I think I've "got" about 40% of the license plates. Are they all from films?
Maybe do a better pic of them as a game for us!
Not all sadly, some are just standard ones I've picked up cheap either from tat shops here or in America. It's been difficult with Covid as I usually buy them from Comic Cons and those haven't happened for a while My favourite will always be Carburettor County A-113Maybe do a better pic of them as a game for us!

Do you have BDR529 from Illinois (yet)?
I've never actually seen a Blues Brothers one, I started buying them a few years ago and their popularity has increased a bit since then so might be more out now (I saw a Cobra Kai one online the other week!). If I'm honest the entire room was decorated around the Piston Cup trophy I bought from Cars Land in LA, a lot of the themed areas there were brick work and license plates so I recreated it in the loo SistersofPercy said:

I "got" the A-113 one, so I'm definitely a bit of a nerd!I also feel a bit better now I know a bunch of them couldn't be "got".

Initial plan was one from each state, loo probably not big enough I also feel a bit better now I know a bunch of them couldn't be "got".
There are other signs in there, one a warning sign from a local abandoned army camp and 5mph speed limits from the same place, other random stuff. I love random signs and that seems to be the place they all congregate. There is a huge, bronze and enamel Police crest in the hallway there too. Tat of all nationalities seems drawn to me

Now. I did buy a max verstappen shirt for a bargain £2.60 a while ago. Laughed a lot when it arrived.....
Not sure who Red Bull Racinc are, but I doubt I'll be wearing it
I knew there would be a typo in there somewhere!...Not sure who Red Bull Racinc are, but I doubt I'll be wearing it
..Not entirely sure if the coordinates are correct, Max may well have a house just outside Sudbury, or is that Cristian's house?
ETA - Bit of a weird coincidence, turns out thats pretty close to where Alex Albon went to school

There is a typo in the coordinates! The original shirt is the factory. ..Not entirely sure if the coordinates are correct, Max may well have a house just outside Sudbury, or is that Cristian's house?

The charging pod for my Jabra bluetooth ear buds diied after 13 months.
Jabra didn’t care but would happily sell me a new one for £70.
I got a Chinese version, £10. Still going strong 3 years later.
Jabra version charged using one of those ends of a charger where you can never find the right size.
Chinese version; there are always cables around with the right tip.

This thread seems to have gone a bit quiet lately - I was expecting some christmas tat inspiration by now.
It's got to the point now where the extra charges brought in post-Brexit take the fun out of just buying random nonsense for pennies, in most cases someone has already imported a load of whatever it is and is selling them for slightly more from the UK so it's much quicker and easier. I used to use it for the PH Secret Santa stuff but by the time you get your victim it's too late to order, most of the cheaper items aren't marked as arriving until late December / January these days if you take the regular postage options.

Exactly that isn't it?I used to use it for the PH Secret Santa stuff but by the time you get your victim it's too late to order, most of the cheaper items aren't marked as arriving until late December / January these days if you take the regular postage options.
I still buy the odd phone case and watch strap oh and jewellery like tunnels and scaffold bars are cheaper, but for most other things I can get them on Amazon for the same price or very slightly more.
One of the things I quite like about ordering this stuff from the Far East is that it turns up ages later after you've forgotten you bought it.
Last week I received a Bluetooth adaptor that I ordered off eBay from a supplier in China
I honestly had completely forgotten about the order and I just checked my eBay history and and it looks like I placed the order in March 2020!!!!
A full 18 months delivery time. I expect it was stuck in a container in the Suez canal or something. Top marks to them for still delivering it though.
