I was sitting in a garden centre the other day, and an old dear was wheeled past me in one of these.

I thought, what has she done to deserve that?

Oof yeah, it's the unintentionally ironic naming of things which people in the "helping" industry somehow manage to do. Two crackers we had a few years ago was the renaming of the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind to Vision Victoria and something like the Spastic Society to Scope. Two things which the poor people who need to use their services will never have.

Since when did Glen Hoddle enter the wheelchair market?

The name Scope was adopted when they realised the word 'spastic' was being used as a term of abuse.

I wonder how long it will be before people start calling each other 'scopes'?

I remember a brief spate of ‘scoper’ name-calling after this happened, but it seems it didn’t catch on.

Is it the fact a landline is listed ?

There was a computer shop in Keighley Main Street ( it’s only over a moor from ilkley- hence link)

One shop window displayed computer stuff

He other shop window, sex toys and stuff. I don’t mean a bra set and a hint of what’s inside: I really mean a full set of things like a big black 12” knobbler with rotating shaft and spurting ability.

Turn 100 yards in another direction and there is the bus station, greggs and obviously families/ children everywhere
