Becsure to visit Clovelly... They have a small antiquities museum with a much under rated spoon collection.

If you've packed your handling gloves, they may let you inspect a very rare William the 3rd period commemorative pewter long tail, once owned by William Cavendish, 1st Duke of Devonshire.

It's maker, to this day, remains unknown, but a man of your knowledge may be able to offer some insights into its origins.
They might not let him leave.

I always knew that one day there would be a topic on PH that compelled me to sign up and post. After all these years of reading from the sidelines, this is that topic. As a new member, I’ve had to wait an agonising fourteen days to be able to post (says a lot about me that I would go through all this over a teaspoon) but, as it turns out, the conversation has moved in a rather fitting direction in that time, so it’s all good.

I wholly agree the Eat ‘n’ Tool spork is an abomination and, frankly, a waste of our planet’s valuable resources. Multi-function implements that fail to perform any of their functions properly as a direct result of being multi-function are a pet hate of mine. However, having witnessed the beauty and simplicity of design that is the SpoonDriver a few pages back, I am even more excited than I already was to share with you the Spanner Spoon (open to suggestions on a good portmanteau – spooner?).

Bought from the gift shop after a tour of the Toyota factory & museum in Nagoya, Japan, it's been used to stir my tea (and eat the occasional yoghurt) at work for the last decade or so but has sadly never seen any real action at the spanner end (10mm AF) apart from a brief test when I bought it.

Given a good scrub in preparation for its public outing:

I was about to welcome you to this thread.

But, after reading your post to the very end, I've changed my mind entirely.

Clear off, newbie!

Don't be too hasty there folks.

Given it is a scientifically proven fact that it is impossible to not lose a 10mm spanner or socket within the first 5 uses, it's an impressive feat that he's managed to hold onto that abomination for so long.

Such care and attention, lavished on something worthy of it, should be encouraged.

You should gently guide, not shun.

It's ahead of its time. A few hundred years from now, when this is unearthed by a metal detectorist type, the spanner spoon will be considered the epitome of early 21st century engineering innovation. Only then will the world be ready and it will later be seen in cutlery drawers and garages across the globe. In time, all other designs will fade into insignificance; this design will have become standard.

is it metric or imperial?
what about the spanner end?
Good luck with the venture- this forum needs more people like you.
FYI- Tafelwares vom Rhineland tried something similar about 5 years back, even making production and getting into a franchise with "Snap-on" tools (rhe range was expensively stocked on the snap-on van fleet) sadly there was not the take up our market research predicted- maybe mechanics just don't drink tea any more.

You were given the benefit of the doubt. Defending it is unconscionable. You're on your own chap.

Happy Friday fellow stirrers.

While we are on the subject of multitasking spoonage, I never travel anywhere ..ANYWHERE ! without my screwdriver/spoon attachment set.

Pickelhauben for goal post? Rather than litigate, why don’t you two buffoons take this opportunity to welcome our obviously discerning newbie?

Funny innit
I post stuff about spoons with the odd sugar cube grabber in amongst the spoons and get slagged off.
Some one sticks up a photoshopped piccie of a spoon with a spanner at the other end and he gets lauded.

Well, I must apologise. Clearly I have caused considerable upset with my unveiling of the sp****r sp**n. It seems also to have encouraged the posting of a regular teaspoon shoved into the handle of a cheap multi-screwdriver, something I could not ever condone.

Perhaps I can calm the waters somewhat with this offering - the tiny spoon (standard teaspoon included for scale). My two kids always fight over this spoon when there's pudding, as eating pudding with a tiny spoon makes it last longer. My son sometimes plans ahead and puts it in his pocket ahead of dinner, then waits for my daughter's disappointment when she rushes to the mug where it lives only to find it has already been had. When she does get there first, she takes the precaution of licking it to prevent her brother from stealing it.

Have I earned a second chance? Or simply poured oil on the fire by sharing an image of a spoon that some may consider too small to be named 'tea'?
