My mate and I go along to our local auction and play the Spitfire game. First one to find the Spitfire whether it's on a book/picture/canvas or badge doesn't have to buy breakfast.

I really want some spitfire stuff - pertinent for our new house.

Guessing from the comments auctions are a good source?!

Just curious, but can anyone buy a serviceable/active/decommissioned etc shotgun?
Certainly not an active one, oddly you can buy something called a 'barrage board' for target shooting an air rifle or pistol at without a licence.

These are boards with 12 bore primers put in so when you hit one it explodes with a bang and smoke. But you go to a gun shop and try and buy a box of primers on there own, you need a licence.

Exactly the same primer as what is in your board from an air gun shop which you bought without a licence.

Loop ear plugs - going to one gig this year. Probably won’t go to another.

Why spend £1 on some foam earplugs when you can spend £30 on some foam earplugs with plastic stuck to them.

Can you do a review after you’ve used them. I blew £30 on these and they are st:
Not a proper test by any means but sat in the office all day yesterday, then sat in the car for a while with music up - pleasantly surprised!

They come with 3 sets of silicone plugs and 3 sets of memory foam plugs so there’s plenty of scope for different sized ears.
I could still hear people talking but general sound is definitely improved.
I’ll let you know if I have any issues - I’m going to wear them again today.

Anyone want a frivolous acquisition?

(It doesn't qualify as a purchase as it's free - buyer collects!)

Wasn't much there today even from decent auction type stuff.

Two separate books.

and a Players cigarette card booklet which had obviously been scribbled on by a kid.

Normally there are a couple of pictures in frames and reference books at least but not today.

I prefer the gel ones as they stay in better.

I was getting some custom earphones made so bought a pair of these as they were only €40 at the time. Never used them until recently when o bought the motorbike, they’re great for riding and supremely comfortable.

My late Father-in-law was excellent at sourcing stuff most people would turn their noses up at. I have a compass from a Spitfire he bought years ago. It's tucked away in the garage but has some writing on the box detailing it's calibration history etc. Fascinating stuff.
He also returned from an autojumble once with the front wheel from a Spitfire. I'd love to turn it into a table but husband isn't seeing it the same way biggrin

I tried on the same helmet yesterday and was my preference of those in the shop, but couldn’t bring myself to wear a Marquez lid in public.

Yep, it’s a very nice lid and I liked the design. I just think Marquez has about as much personality as a Tory minister.

I can’t decide between gt air 2 and nxr. Prefer the simpler shape of the latter but like the integrated bluetooth option on the gt.

Ha. I bought my first helmet (bell eliminator) before I’d had my first lesson. Was fine up until I started riding to work where I found it buffets above 80 and I’m kissing the chin bar at 100. I don’t think these retro styled helmets are any good on an unfaired bike at speed.

A couple of these to go in an older car (to go with the old speakers)

No idea if they work yet. The prices of some of the ones I used to own have gone nuts!

Anyway, not needed, I just like the memories.

That is mint.
This is number two. Needs a bit of a clean..
