Which aftershave do you use?

Mine is Ricki Hall's Booze and Baccy by Capt. Fawcett.
Super quality stuff which has a timeless reminiscence.
“I was thinking about what men were like when I was a kid, strong blokes who didn’t apologise for being masculine. I wanted to bring that back – the smell of being an adult in the 70s and 80s – booze, cigarettes, leather, aftershave, pub – it’s a bit of time travel. This sort of man, he’s pulling up in a Ford Capri, leather jacket, hairy chest in an open shirt with a gold chain. Pint in his hand, pack of Bensons, laid back and smart with an eye for the ladies and a reckless streak but honourable you know – a proper gentleman, cocksure but a real charmer – everyone wants to be around him but a look in his eye means you wouldn’t cross him. It’s a real intense male scent – assertive, potent, the kind worn by a man with a score to settle, but only once he’s finished his pint”. Ricki Hall.

Who's Ricki Hall? I had no idea. Super quality stuff which has a timeless reminiscence.

I might give it a sniff as long as I don't have to come into close-to-medium proximity with badly tattooed, bearded hipsters with oiled man buns.

I generally bounce around the Acqua di Parma offerings (with a particular like for Colonia Intensia, Mirto Di Panarea and a few of the others) or Creed Aventus when I'm not using up the dregs of various old bottles of Boss that are probably well past it or spraying on some gifted Lynx Urban Daily (which is quite far removed from the changing room full of Oriental and Africa the Lynx brand usually reminds me of).
However I've recently moved on to Penhaligon's after they cunningly introduced a spray from their shop that fills a local shopping emporium with their "Halfeti" fragrance. They do loads of really nice gents stuff but the unisex Halfeti is working for me currently and it seems to smell for ages, when I got the bottle in December they sprayed a cloth that came in the package and it still smells today.

Worth a visit if you're near one of their shops, Roaring Radcliffe is another favourite but I can't afford more than one bottle to be on the go at a time.
Edit: Totally forgot the Mäurer & Wirtz 4711 bargain stuff I use most days.

Yves Saint Laurent Y, anybody tried this? Jeremy Fragrance (on YouTube) seems to like it. Worth giving it a go?
Tried this out a couple of days ago in EDP form, actually very nice. Quite sweet, would be good for spring/summer as an alternative to D&G Light Blue. Will probably buy it next time it's on offer in Boots.Bought Chanel Allure Homme Sport a few weeks back. Super clean, super fresh. Recommended daily wear, for office or otherwise.
Anyone tried Layton by Parfums de Marly. Seems to be replacing Aventus as the IN niche fragrance. As expected, not cheap!

Layton or Layton Exclusif? I've tried the former at Selfridges and did really like it at the time but held off on buying a full bottle, waiting for a split that never appeared.FWIW I finished a split of Virgin Island Water today and think that if I were to splash out on a Creed, it'd be this.
...or Green Irish Tweed.

FWIW I finished a split of Virgin Island Water today and think that if I were to splash out on a Creed, it'd be this.

Regular Layton. As with Aventus, it's not cheap and not something I'd wear every day. It'd be a special occasion fragrance (like Aventus). I worry with having so many fragrances, they'll start to go off before I get the chance to use them all up.FWIW I finished a split of Virgin Island Water today and think that if I were to splash out on a Creed, it'd be this.

Not tried Creed's Virgin Island Water. What's it like? I had a sample of Green Irish Tweed a while back. I remember not being enamoured with it. Wanted to try it again recently but it seems the tester has disappeared into the ether.
Amouage Reflection is another fragrance that seems to get a lot of praise? Have you tried it?

I loved the smell but didn't rate the longevity of it. Apparently St Bart's by Tommy Bahama is the one to buy if you like VIW, but I haven't picked it up yet.

I found some old fragrances in a drawer at least 20 years old and still usable, I think the fact they were kept in the dark was the reason. Not tried Creed's Virgin Island Water. What's it like? Likewise I have a number in my collection stored in the perfumery dating back to the mid-50's and even a couple pre-WW2 and they are still usable and still get very positive comments from any aficionados of vintage scents that I come across. gregs656 said:

Set Sail St Barts is also very summery but I don't get a similarity to VIW except maybe for the lime accord.

I always keep mine in the boxes for that reason, I find they last much longer that way too.The Creed decants I get from Tom are often 20/30ml so whilst they're in the plastic atomisers I do tend to go through them regularly, even switching between them.

Green Irish Tweed I didn't like when I first tried it, but now I really do. A more refined version of cool water, which I love.
I was the same but over time it's actually become one of my favourites. Of the Creeds I have, I'd rank them in the following order of preference:Himalaya
Aventus
Green Irish Tweed
Silver Mountain Water
Bois du Portugal
Original Santal
Original Vetiver
Viking
Tabarome
I've also tried Royal Water, Millesime Imperial, Virgin Island Water & Erolfa, none of which floated my boat. There are a few more in the range I might try at some stage but I think I have enough for now.
