You may need to explain what gimping is in the context of shoes.
Not the safest google search one could make.

When the cut edge, parallel to the holes (brogueing), are cut with a zig-zag pattern as opposed a straight cut that you would associated with more formal shoes. Nearly all "brogues" are brogued and gimped and rarely do you see one without the other.

Well I just got these TT Barkers from TKMaxx and nothing obvious seems wrong, but I don't have any other Barkers to compare against. They don't seem the quality of Church, Tyrwhitt, Loake that I do have.
Thats interesting. In general, tend to place Barker's above Loake and Loake above Tyrwhitt. I know many Tyrwhitts are make by Loake but I imagine they have had to cut costs as they tend to retail for less (or are regularly in promotion)There are also quality ranges from each brand. Some are clearly differentiated (Loake L1, Design, 1880) but it's more difficult with Barkers. They still sell some models that have a single leather cemented sole in the more basic range for example.
I've been trying to find an alternative work shoe for a while; not really wanting to spend Barkers money for work, but in two minds about the reasonable, comfortable, commando-soled, but slightly "available on prescription" Clarks I often default to. So I wandered into a Jones the Boot in Bath, to find a totally different range of shoes from that in Jones in Bristol, between the two price ranges, and all of them seemed to fit me. Reeling, I bought two pairs.
I half expect to return to Bath to buy more, only to be unable ever to find that shop door again!
Not my carpet. Flame away.

It's called banter. Must you be such an uptight, self-righteous tosser?
Banter is good, we like that. The thread has had plenty of it. But these sorts of comments:So said:
Is that why you bought those instead?

I'd need to handle them, but the shoes you posted look cheap.

I don't agree with you. It's a give and take, useful and friendly forum, not one that you can slag off everything on the assumption that you're a cool kid. Don't be a cock.

I've been on the receiving end of as much banter as I've given out. It's friendly. I offer and receive it such. Now stop being so precious, there's a good chap. It's a give and take, useful and friendly forum, not one that you can slag off everything on the assumption that you're a cool kid. Don't be a cock.
