The origin of glove box and dash board and what to call them now might blow some people's minds.
Just googled the origins of dashboard - I had no idea it came from carriages (and it took me a while to realise that there should be a second a in carriages !)
Indeed. An awful lot of motoring terms, especially in coachbuilding, come from the days of horse-drawn carriages.
Here’s a Curved Dash Oldsmobile.

I feel that a version of jury service should be introduced.

You get selected to be an MP randomly, and will be paid 2 x your previous declared income (average of the top 3 years in the previous 6)

Unlike jury service, you are allowed to turn it down.
I've done jury service and at least 50% of the people selected are fkwits.

Mind you, in the past six years I've sold two companies, so doubling up my earnings would put me on a par with Rishi Sunak's gardener.
Sounds like Pit Pony's on to something then as that would be a big improvement on the current lot.

Get a text last night on the family what's app from the youngest, asking if anyone can collect her and her boyfriend from The Mount, this is an area in our town, there is also a road by the same name in that area.

The wife texts back asking where it is, I turn to her all puzzled and say "you used to work there?", she claims she had never worked there, I replied stating it was so and so family, "that wasn't The Mount" said she "it was xyv Avenue" I said "yes, which is in the area known as The Mount, just outside town on the way to Frances' (our other daughter), on the right by xyz pub", "Ahh Yeahh, is that known as The Mount, I never knew that?"

I fired it up on Google maps showed her were she used to work, which is a road off the road named The Mount, in the area known as The Mount.

What's more frustrating is, a) when she got the job, I asked where it was she replied" The Mount" and b) when she was asked by others about the job she would tell them it was at "The Mount" as its such a well known area locally so people instantly knew where she was talking about!

Here’s a picture of a common or garden electrical screwdriver.
This what I lent Mrs C this week.

This is what returned…

Is it just the shadow or is the insulation melted near the tip?

It's a puzzle. My wife uses kitchen knives to open paint tins, but I don't see how yours could do that sort of damage buttering some toast...

Space Station going overheard (south if England) in about 40 mins. Which reminds me that my Mrs thought you could see it because they had the lights turned on.

Me - "Er no - in what event?"

Cracking dives, too, gold medal.

Stick that in a first date and smoke it, Fred.

Yesterday evening the wife was pointing out a double rainbow to our 4 year old. She turned around sand asked me if they're new. I asked her what she meant and said "they've not just been invented!". "We never had them when I was young" was her response!
