Jesus, a psychopathic, murderous drug lord is now to be honoured, I can see the principle of it being about any grave but its almost a tribute and to be honest crimping a length onto his grave is more appropriate for the misery that horrible creature caused.

I hate how old criminals get lauded, you dont get pass out when you die if you were evil in life, people name bars after Pablo Escobar, he murdered thousands, he brought down an airliner ffs.
To be 100% fair, Pablo Escobar put in huge amounts of his personal fortune into improving the city of Medellin. He paid for hospitals, schools, public works. Half the reason that Medellin is a first world city in a third world country is due to the money that was donated by Escobar (also due to a string very competent mayors in the 90's and 00's).

But the reason Medellinos are upset over this is because this scrote's actions are glorifying Medellins violent drug history, something they've worked hard to get away from in the last 2 decades (also they're a very catholic people, sanctity of the grave and all that). He's definitely not honoured in Colombia.
Jimmy Saville did a lot for Stoke Mandevile hospital and many other charities, Adolf Hitler was probably kind to animals and Tony Blair makes a nice brew.

Pablo Escobar was a self serving narcissistic megalomaniac, any donations he made were to win hearts and minds, ensure silence and lets face it, he had more money than he could ever spending in a thousand lifetimes, he fancied himself as a man of the people as a sideline to his drug running, torture and murder.

He killed thousands, directly and indirectly, chucking a few quid round doesnt get him off the hook.

I dont like glorification of crime and this chap shouldn't be doing that in a graveyeard, but really, should be an unmarked grave like Savile is, someone like Escobar having a monument is bound to attract cretins like this.

Its funny how people like him probably think he would have a great laugh with Pablo Escobar, yea right, more likely fed to pigs, like all the Aryan nutters Zeig hieling, Hitler would have been more likely send them off to one of his alternative holiday camps, then there is all those lovable old cockney gangsters like the Crays and their mates with colourful names, probably more likely to be a victim than a cohort.

I stopped reading right there.

Comparing Escobar to Saville means you don't know either of them.

Nor have you ever been to Colombia. A bit of advice, when you're in a hole, stop digging because you've got no idea (I'm guessing you've watched Narcos and got your "clue" from that).

Also try reading my post, I never said Medellino's glorified him. Get a grip and possibly some reality.

It's probably more helpful to explain what is actually wrong with that comparison. At a basic level they're both undesirable criminals, so without further information the comparison is a reasonable one.

If you have more knowledge that tells you that it isn't, then explain why rather than get offended and sling insults. More helpful for everyone!

Shouting at each other on the internet without making a real effort to further the debate = council tongue out

And as a result, you went on to be insulting and condescending to J4CKO for making a perfectly reasonable point, which you might've known if you'd read it.

Yep, watched Narcos, done a bit of reading, have a mate who is married to a Columbian lady who I have chatted to at length, she lived fairly locally during Pablo Escobars reign, its very interesting.

No, I dont know either of them, that would be pretty unlikely, I know their reputations, dont think I choose a favourite from a kiddie fiddler and a mass murdering drug lord, the point was mainly around their good sides, and the fact it was probably, in both cases partly to facilitate their other aims rather than any actual altruism.

I thought I was actually agreeing, at least in part, anyway the bloke snorting stuff off Pablo Escobars grave is a tool and I can see why Columbians would be annoyed, more the principle than whose grave it was. And, at the risk of sounding a bit like Alan Partridge I am aware there is a lot more to Columbia than the drug trade and that it is a beautiful country.

Also, just observed some councilistas in the BA lounge in Edinburgh. I suspect they are here on a voucher. One of them whipped out his iPad and we got a couple of bars of the Eastenders theme tune before he was able to sync his enormous Bluetooth headphones.

You can’t normally buy vouchers for access to the BA lounges anywhere in the world - you have to be of the correct tier or flying with the relevant ticket that allows access (unless they’ve changed their policy)

Alternatively if it was the Aspire lounge then I can definitely understand as they’re always full of council folk.

Interesting - it’s regular BA branded so I suppose they must have status or have bought Club tickets.

Some gold in here for you, but a bit depressing, sketchy "businessmen", perverts, drug dealers, pissed up drivers, stabby teenagers, got the lot.

I flew BA from Gatwick to Geneva last March. Once baggage fees were included, it was actually cheaper to fly Club than Economy...

Some terrible cases there, but I struggled to feel compassion for the woman whose husband beat her unconscious for watching “Britain’s got Talent.”
He may have done better, and helped to save her from herself, by taking away the TV if she really liked that pile of ordure.

What Frank would have done in that situation was thrown his keys at his wife and hailed a taxi to the nearest bar.

Depends where you go I guess; we went skating at Hampton Court palace twice over the Christmas period and I wouldn't say there was anything "council" about it, far from it TBH!

Costco.

Used to be for the select few. Now it's become the haunt of fat, y, neanderthal types. They form into solid bodies while congregating outside the entrance, having their last fag or inhaler. Then they become more fluid and disperse into the store, breaking off into small fat groups who stand looking at you stupidly while blocking the isle.
