We have been watching the Walking Dead. Last night she pipes up saying "look they are based on graphic novels, I bet the books are more gruesome than the series"
Not sure we can allow this one.
Aye, it's not an unreasonable assumption.
The Graphic Novels can be pretty gruesome at times, that's for sure.
I thought it was an amusing anecdote though. Whichever of the two interpretations she intended, the erroneous one was assumed.

They don't describe the books in "based on" do they? The Fantasy book by JRR Tolkien, the st book by Dan Brown etc.
I can easily understand the interpretation though especially if you have never heard of comics referred to as Graphic Novels.

Watching the F1:

Me: Oh, the Indy 500 is on later
Mrs: Where's it at?
Not that daft really. Considering F1 moves round the world, and thats what you were watching at the time.

She was clearly asking about the Indy 500. Although it's not an automatic leap from Indy to Indianapolis, so not sure it's a classic...

One would hope that an American would know that.

(she is American, isn't she ? - or does she just speak American ? )

It does, although the Indy 500 is unique to Indiana. However, I wouldn't expect most people to know that and wouldn't think them stupid if they didn't.

If you're not into the sport, Indy could mean a race for small independent race teams.

OH told me the other day that for months after we met, she thought it strange that doors had suddenly become easier to open (like the big shop doors etc)... and she only realised many months later that in fact, I had been opening the door by holding the handle above her head (she's 5' and I'm 6')....

The 'Tour de Yorkshire' is coming quite close to us.

The Mrs N is reading the paper this morning.

She "There's a do on at the Rugby Club and several pubs, a festival in Holmfirth, half the roads are closed, we won't be able to get anywhere that Sunday".

Me " where did you want to to go then".

She "Well nowhere really, but we won't be able to go even if we did".

Which must explain the low sodium content of a McDonald's apple pie.
