And even more annoyingly 99% of all TV adverts feature one of those fking songs. Music for bedwetters.

Annoying?Yes. Weird? Definitely! The 2 French backpacker types who knocked on my door at 8 last night asking if they can stay in our house!!!!
I know they're French but who knocks on random doors asking for a bed for the night? Were they expecting the next messiah?
I fully expect to be told that its an old gypsy con trick and they wanted to rob me blind and bum my dog (or bum me blind & rob my dog?biggrin)

One that particularly got my goat last year (or maybe the year before) was the re-hash of Embrace's We Got Family which is a bit of an angry, shouty "Don't fk with us" song but was made into some twee lovey-dovey "buy stuff from our shop so you can have a happy, smiley family Christmas" claptrap.

ETA: For some reason they decided to do away with the lyric, "I own your ass now by rights."
Almost anyone sounds better than that tool from Embrace though.

A not very touristy part of west Scotland, so it's weird the French came all that way just to annoy me.

......Children in Need etc etc,.....
A fine and noble cause I'm sure but Chris Evans' radio 2 thing where folk are bidding tens of thousands to have lunch and a disco with the ginger one makes me a bit sick in my mouth.

It's not the principle behind it, just the way they go about it; all us poor folk smiling along and giving the rich chaps virtual pats on the back for being so altruistic where, really, deep down, we wish them death and to transfer a large amount of cash from their accounts to clear our overdrafts.

In fact I've stopped listening to Evans entirely in the morning now. He has become intolerably annoying.

So that's two things.

1. Children in need
2. Chris Evans

What we all want to know. Did they get a room?

Stopped contributing to Children in Need when our local am-dram society got a payout off them.

Didn't seem to me to be the most urgent of priorities

So they weren't young and female and looking to dry their skimpy rain-drenched clothing by your peat fire?

Nope, who would let 2 total strangers in the house?

Am I the only one who spent some time yesterday running through the song in my head trying to place that last lyric in the tune, only to realise I was actually thinking of We Are Family?

Embedded videos in news articles are high on my list of things that annoy me. Websites like DM always seem to have a video embedded in the article these days and when you open the link the video automatically starts playing the first few seconds. If you scroll down the page past the video it simply moves itself to the bottom right corner of your browser window and continues playing whether you want to watch it or not. mad

Eg. http://www.nottinghampost.com/news/nottingham-news...

I have uBlock Origin and Adblock both installed which between them do an admirable job of ensuring I don't see any ads, but is there anything that stops these videos from automatically playing and moving themselves around the screen on every fking news site? furious

This year we have a good song for a christmas ad, (John Lewis?), Golden Slumbers by the Beatles, sung by Elbow.

I knew some tool would be along to say that sooner or later but I like 'em and the song in question fits the bill for this discussion perfectly. One of the best gigs I've ever been to was Embrace at Rock City in circa 2000. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but they put on a great show and engaged really well with the audience.

...But "series" works perfectly well too!
Only if, as cuprabob points out, it is qualified with "full". ..
Now wait a sec...if it's a series that's all of it, anything else is just episodes, surely?

What about a series of boxsets? And do 'mini-series' still exist?

All part of some US studio marketing plan. Time to reclaim our language etc etc.
