I found some old fragrances in a drawer at least 20 years old and still usable, I think the fact they were kept in the dark was the reason.
Likewise I have a number in my collection stored in the perfumery dating back to the mid-50's and even a couple pre-WW2 and they are still usable and still get very positive comments from any aficionados of vintage scents that I come across.
Mine are out of their boxes (apart from Aventus) but I keep them in my wardrobe so not exposed to sunlight.

I do love Aventus, but longevity for me is terrible with it. As all Creed’s similar in this respect?

Daily wear is Bulgari Man in Black which was a random airport purchase - I’m quite pleased with it though!

VIW is all coconut and lime. It might not be the most sophisticated but it makes me smile every time I put it on. It's definitely a summer fragrance. The downside is Mrs Toasty keeps nicking it.

Set Sail St Barts is also very summery but I don't get a similarity to VIW except maybe for the lime accord.
Yeah I like it too.

I haven't tried it, just something I have read a number of times, I will probably try it sooner or later.

I have been using Hermes Le Jardin de Monsieur Li - found in Marshalls. I'm a fan. Very summery.

I was the same but over time it's actually become one of my favourites. Of the Creeds I have, I'd rank them in the following order of preference:

Himalaya
Aventus
Green Irish Tweed
Silver Mountain Water
Bois du Portugal
Original Santal
Original Vetiver
Viking
Tabarome

I've also tried Royal Water, Millesime Imperial, Virgin Island Water & Erolfa, none of which floated my boat. There are a few more in the range I might try at some stage but I think I have enough for now.
You rank Himalaya above Aventus? Is it really that nice? Might try a sample of that next.
A close one but I think yes although they're both superb. I really like Himalaya's crisp freshness - it's a great one for daytime wear.

However, of the two the Aventus still gets the most compliments.

I've never had a longevity issue with Aventus; where are you getting yours from? The Creeds I've listed above which I have all last well (it's one of the things I look for) but I found a couple of others didn't (Virgin Island Water and Royal Water I think - I didn't keep them).

I also have Bvlgari Man In Black and it's gorgeous.

Store bought - either Selfridges or John Lewis, and it’s generally been the same regardless. After an hour or so I can no longer smell it on me. Curiously it does last a good time if I get it on my clothes, but not when it’s on me...

I was just checking it wasn't possibly that you had watered-down splits etc but evidently not. Perhaps it's just different on your skin than on others...

They also vary batch to batch; there's a spreadsheet being maintained by some folks from Basenotes (I think) which details users' thoughts on different batches: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NoPpK1UBVz...

Might be interesting to see what the feedback on your batch is on there?

Cool, will check when I buy the next one! First ever one I bought was pretty good, but ever since they’ve been a bit disappointing... Might just be that I’ve got used to it and stopped smelling it, who can say? Need to polish off the Bulgari and some Tom Fords before I’ll let myself buy another aftershave though! biggrin

the issue currently with Creed stuff is that you can’t buy the whole package, some of us old geezers used to be able to buy the shower gel, under arm, the aftershave plus the after shave lotion.

the Aventus is the best on the market but i found myself sticking to mountain water since i still have a good stash of the shower gel.

Bought Terre d’Hermes a couple of years ago on a whim.

I liked it back then but it’s got way better for some reason and is now favourite above some of my other Hermes ones (pamplmousse rose, voyage etc).

Not sure if it’s my preferences changing or the parfum?

Are you sure you're not getting mixed up with Insignia? I hear that's got everything from shampoo to shower gel.... wink

I do like a fancying up session with the whole set now and again but never had the experience with Creed.

eek

Shower gel: £80
Bar of soap: £35

*continues to use Radox, bought when on offer at Tesco for £1 a bottle*

As an aside, my PdM Layton sample came. First impressions (assuming it's genuine), pretty decent. Quite sweet/warm. Not a million miles away from La Nuit de l'Homme, but depth. Haven't tested on skin yet, will probably do first day back at work on Tuesday.

I just had the first compliment I've had in a very long time and asked what I'm wearing. Bloody Spicebomb! Such a workhorse fragrance that seems to please everyone.

Good fragrance, my personal preference is for the Extreme version.

Tried the Layton sample on Friday at work. One of nurses said she was enjoying following me round as I smelt so good!

Anyone fancy a trade? I have 20ml of creed BdP from Tom, probably used 2ml max. I like it but it’s a bit strong for me to ever pick over something else, and the Mrs hates it!

Are we talking young nubile nurses or the old dragon matriarch?

Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not a salesman. tongue out

It's a relatively small rural GP surgery. We don't have any nubile nurses swanning around. Of all my fragrances, the ones that typically get most compliments are Sauvage and Acqua Di Gio Profumo. I rarely wear Aventus to work, when I do however, it is very well received.
