If I'm steaming a compilation on YouTube with a static image (say an hour long), does it use the bandwidth of streaming a video or just audio as the image isn't actually changing?
In theory the video compression should compress the image part of the stream to little more than the single PNG size - the algorithms are based on the idea that a lot of the screen image does not change from frame to frame. It won't be perfect though.grumbledoak said:

So slightly more than say radio, and a hell of a lot less than actual video? wildone63 said:
Ive been hearing a lot on radio and tv recentley about this thing/entity that is reffered to as 'the establishment'
who or wtf is it?
An inferred collective of the ruling elite and sectors of society that buy into and adhere to the notion of a set of social norms and governance.who or wtf is it?

I think it is used as a catch-all to blame things on.who or wtf is it?
You never hear people claiming to be "establishment figures", only proudly claiming to not be members of it.

Sometimes it seems nearly every other post ends with those three dots...
My understanding of it is that it is not so much of a question (where you would use a question mark), but as a leading statement - which encourages people to respond too.I think I may have been criticised for my excessive use of ellipsis before...

How are we evolving?
I know we're generally larger than the people of 1000 years ago, but will this continue? Will humans in 2100 be an average of 6'8"? What else is evolving? Why don't we have the capability to grow new teeth? Would we do better with six fingers?
We've ceased evolving. Normally environment forces evolution, but as we've adapted the environment to suit us in the last few hundred years there is no need to evolve.I know we're generally larger than the people of 1000 years ago, but will this continue? Will humans in 2100 be an average of 6'8"? What else is evolving? Why don't we have the capability to grow new teeth? Would we do better with six fingers?
Teeth are designed to last a human lifetime if the owner is healthy. As we're living longer than we should it's not really the case that teeth don't last!
Six fingers? What do you think? Lots of examples in the animal world after all... .

NO, not at the moment anyway - as the chap above said there's no biological trait that is currently wiping out any great number of people before they have a chance to reproduce - yes, sadly people die young every day, but it's not usually because of one particular trait or other.I know we're generally larger than the people of 1000 years ago, but will this continue? Also, since the advent of society and to a lessor extent birth control there's no one trait that allows certain types to reproduce more than others - you could argue certain portions of society disproportionally reproduce in greater numbers - but fans of Jeremy Kyle are no different to anyone else on an DNA level.
Also it's unlikely that say someone was born with six fingers, it would give them the edge over the rest of us.
Maybe some great Pandemic will come along and kill off all the gingers or the lanky types or people with webbed toes - but if it happens it would be more subtle than that and we'll just end up evolving to a species that's immune to some horrible ebola/flu hybrid.

IIRC, the notion that we are taller now than in the past is a bit of myth; the average Roman was over 6'.I know we're generally larger than the people of 1000 years ago, but will this continue? I think the main evolutionary change will be longevity. There was some chap on 5Live a while back that suggested there is growing consensus that the first person to live to 150 year old has already been born!
