Typical of foreign birds coming over here and making our ones look bad. laugh
Reminds me of a time many moons ago, when my elder son was getting heavily involved with a beautiful blonde German girl, whom he eventually married, while his younger brother was running around with a Venezuelan girl, that he’d met while working in Madrid.
I said to them one day, “ English girls not good enough for you two?”
The elder one just shrugged, and nodded in the direction of his fräulein, the younger one said, “English girls are nice looking dad, but they’ve got no style.”

I've suddenly found myself working nights and getting home at 3.30-4 ish AM.
The mornings seem to still be getting lighter, the sky was beginning to get light arounf 3.15 last night, earlier than last week.
Am I making things up or do mornings continue to get lighter for a while after summer solstice?
Looks like it’s almost the other way round. Mornings getting darker after the 19th, but not the evening. Assuming you’re in London that is. https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/uk/london?month=6&...

Edit: if your profile is correct, a couple of days earlier than that it seems... https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/@2655689?month=6&a...

Parakeets in South London.

I was aware that they existed but assumed them to be a rare thing but my daughter has just moved to Beckenham and the place seems to be swarming with the things. Lovely to look at but what gives?
They are nothing to do with Humphrey Bogart or Jimi Hendrix

When I was a kid in Orpington in the 80s/90s I don't ever remember seeing them. They seem to have become a lot more common in this area (I'm now in a village just past Swanley) over the past 20 years.

Originally escaped pets, they don't have a problem with the UK climate. I see and hear groups of them flying around here in the Manchester suburbs. Still do a double-take when they sqawk overhead! Haven't seen any on the bird table yet.

They are escapees from when they filmed "The African Queen" at Shepperton studios, back in 19 somethink. They had lots of parakeets to make it look like Africa.

It's all Humphrey Bogarts fault. Him and that woman with the parasol.

I've dated more foreigners than natives. My current girlfriend of nearly 3 years is from Madrid.

British girls bore me by and large.

Link on the previous page debunks that myth.

So who are you going to believe? Him or me?

I have been to Shepperton Studios, I know what goes on there.

Things are not what they seem, believe me.

She wasn’t referred to by him as fräulein, he called her by her name, Anke, I could have said his Freundin, or liebling, perhaps schatzi, but I thought that they might be a bit “out there”, so reasoning that the majority of people know the word fräulein, I threw that in, to mean his German girlfriend.

How about simply 'his girlfriend' instead of trying to sound clever?
