Didn't the Great Fire of London start in a bakery or some such?

I only ask as Battert's made a start on Sunday lunch, he's been over to the hangar looking for firelighters.
Oh, no! When he starts late he goes for speed over quality. And quantity. And decorum. And life and limb.

Do you still have the Fire Brigade on Speed Dial?

Speaking of starting fires:

I'm the firestarter...

I'm on my way to the B&L as we speak to have a lunchtime pint with the Fire Chief.

So far today I have replaced a number plate bulb in Ivor, had another pay with the audio, went out and filled Ivor up with fuel, bought and consumed lunch, cleaned out the chimnea, and tidied up after our burn session yesterday, and am currently sat watching Silent Witness.

Today's car based activity has mostly consisted of me not being at all arsed to clean the filthy car, and instead changing the selection of CDs around, out went Laurie Johnson's (RIP) 'The Professionals' soundtrack, the EMI loungetastic compilation 'The Sound Gallery' and a rather spiffing Alan Hawkshaw compendium in favour of Lalo Schifrin's soundtracks to 'Bullitt' and 'Dirty Harry, and a slightly worn out copy of the MC5's 'Kick Out The Jams' music

I haven't watched Silent Witness for ages, is the new series any good Bobbers? I've just started on 'The Rockford Files' boxset and it's just as good as I remember it the first time around...

And the theme tune is as catchy as ever music

Personally I think it's very good P5BNij, Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) is pretty easy on the eyes, Jack Hodgson (David Caves) is an Irish cage fighting forensic specialist, the other supporting actors all have interesting backstories so yeah, I like it.

A girl I knew had the 'Jubilee' thing, British Racing Green with gold stripes it was. Enormous plastic bumpers.

The car, I mean, not her. Quite tidy, she was, as it goes.

Shared its wheels with the V8 IIRC. But bronze.

I'll check.

Good man, you have a look. I don't remember much about the wheels.

Nurse, she was. Met her on holiday in the south of France. Lived in Lancaster, she did. Went up there a few times, had my old white Capri 2.8i at the time.

Happy days smile

Marvelous stuff indeed Bomma. A few years ago a bunch of us visited the location at the end of that clip...

Bom - I edited my post to include a pic of a Jubilee model with wheels the same or very similar to the V8. But bronze.

I was working in Wembley Park when they were making The Professionals. Apart from the urban decay surrounding the studio for backdrops, there were also the ruins of the British Empire Exhibition. Ruins, I tell you. Most of the buildings were in ruins anyway. The Stadium was an exception. And the building used as the canteen for the stadium staff. We were allowed to use it if we made way for stadium staff. Dining in The Palace of Art sounded a lot grander than it actually was.

"What do the omelettes contain?"
"Eggs."

Thanks old boy, that's pretty much as I remember it.

Dreadfully unreliable thing though, I recall we stayed in a hotel around the Stoke area, I had to dry the distributor cap out with a hairdryer.

"What would you do if it was your car, Bomma?"

"Chuck it in a bloody skip and buy an RS2000"

I've never been much cop at relationships.

Not NHK itself but a very nice lookalike... wink

(One of the lads owns a slightly later Mk1 Granada used in the series though, 'RHJ 996R' I think it is)
