Yep. Unions - council
Met an older retired guy in Thailand and he said he was a trucker, so as an ex trucker we had a chat. After about 20 mins I said "You were a union rep weren't you?", he looked proud of his past.

He was also a walt AND a dads army type. Triple wammy.

I’m having an abandoned van removed from “our” land.

Tenants son has told me because he is a union rep for the council he knows people and will have it stopped.

I loved telling him” so you’re going to go to the councils highway team and try to use your role to stop them following procedure to move a scrap van because you’re related to the tenant. And unduly try to use your influence? “

I said crack on. I’d be sacking you if you tried that on in my company. But you carry on. Please do.

Honestly. Proper bell. End.

The council, being the ultimate council organisation, will almost certainly tow the wrong vehicle away to screams of compensayyshun.

I'm always suspicious of single white English men who visit Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand etc. for weeks at a time, or even retire out there. The stereotype is not unfounded. Beautiful countries outside of the cities, I'm sure, but they've just got... an image.

I've got an uncle who moved out to Philippines years ago. It's all very odd.

Yep.Plenty out there in Glitters gang.

Problem is their governments are so corrupt from top to bottom and don’t care as long as they gain the revenue.

In Thailand there really isnt and its very old overused trope. I had a house in Thailand (Hua Hin) for a few years and most older people move out there for the cost of living combined with the temperatures that tend to be very beneficial for arthritis and gout sufferers.

The stereotype is certainly not warranted for the most part.

A bigger issue is the male Indian sex-tourists (which is predominantly localised around Pattaya).

Anyhoo stereotyping whole countries, council.

Anyway, houses on not very pleasant roads/estates that have cars on the drive sticking out like a turd in a punchbowl. There's a cracking one locally, bog standard end of terrace house on the edge of the worst estate in Chelmsford, but with a loft extension, enormous double extension on the side, glass orangery thing on the back, grey cladding, LED downlights under the guttering, every room illuminated with cool blue LED lights. Oh and a Huracan and new BMW X5 on the drive behind some security bollards, complete with a big sign written builder's van.

It's almost as if they have a load of cash to dispose of! rolleyes

I don’t share pictures, it’d finish me but I have a set from a house , garden etc done up from the proceeds of drugs

Nearly every inch of the garden is proper habitable office like buildings, done for cultivation of drugs. House is a sea of Grey and glitter/ mirrors.

We’ll evict them for their activity but you must be talking £40k plus in investment, into a rented property

lol, apart from the side extension bit - my brother lives near this.

thing is the loft extension obliterates the existing 3rd bedroom - and the new 3rd bedroom isn't much larger (excluding eaves storage)

I disagree.

This is well known and has been happening for decades and still does it’s just wrong to dismiss it as a trope because you had a home there.

Other warm countries much closer to UK are available for arthritis and gout issues.

Just be thankful they aren’t doing it in the house. A friend of ours had it in a unit they rented out. They couldn’t get back in for months and even then the fabric of the house had soaked in whatever it was the scum bags were making / growing. The entire place had to be gutted and redone.

Private housing development includes a play area for use by the residents, in line with planning consent stipulations granted 20 years ago.

People who live on the estate pay an annual maintenance fee, which includes a contribution to the park's upkeep. Sign has been there for ages to say that the park is not open to the general public.

Dopey Councillor is outraged that the owner of private property can stipulate who can use their own property!

https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/20242996.anger-s...

"But Cllr Martin said the sign sent out a negative message to children from families who can't afford to live there that they aren't worthy of using the play facilities.

In a post shared on Facebook, she said: “I can't even begin to explain how much this has angered and upset me.

“Every child deserves a safe space to play, regardless of where they live.

“I am aware residents pay a maintenance fee for the upkeep of the play area and open spaces, however that is not the issue here

“The issue is that that sign enforces a feeling on my child that he's not welcome in that area because we can't afford the £300,000 needed to purchase a house there.

“What sort of example does that set to our children, the future of our country, our world?

Cllr Martin said she believed the rule was unenforceable and would not deter her from taking her son to the play area"

Jesus wept, we're doomed if this is the calibre of individual representing the bottom rungs of democracy.

So by the Councillor's reasoning, those with private swimming pools should be required to open them up for use by those who can't afford their own pools.
