I can see it being amusing for a few days. Isn't there a house somewhere (Oxford ?) with a shark sticking out of the roof ?

I wouldn't want one in my garden, however my neighbour having one wouldn't bother me one bit; it's a bit of fun.

It would make directing people to your house a bit easier. "2nd on the left past the dinosaur" laugh

I like that, I'd need it lit up though.

Couple of those would do the job I'd imagine.

That's amazing. I love that fact that its in the garden of a rubbish, tin roofed system built house.

I'd hate to live near it though. Obviously bonus points for "of course he's got grandchildren with autism".

who doesn't these days.

who remember's this though ?

I remember going to look at it !

I've never bothered buying a dishwasher as I live alone and not seen the need.

You'd have to run it everyday with just a couple of items in it as otherwise you would have to wash pots and pans manually anyway to use the next day even if you stash a week's worth of plates and cutlery in the dishwasher. And plates are the easiest things to wash.
Cant afford a dishwasher = council
Ah, here's where we get to a philosophical discussion:

  • Is simply being poor to be considered "council" (which generally refers to brash, crass living, devoid of any decorum) or are they independent?
I would argue not. But, this is PH.

Na, have gone back to cash, prefer if to be honest.
Yep, cash has some gravitas, it means you have enough of it that payment up front isn't an issue for you.

It's putting everything on credit that is council, double council score if it's credit you can't afford. Triple council score if you're doing it to get "points". If you then go to the Daily Wail crying poor about how the banks and lenders have mistreated you, the councilistas will enshrine you as their god.

I'd suggest a refinement.

A big bank balance is thread-neutral - as is a small bank balance, in isolation.

Cash in large amounts (as in literal, physical 'cash') is thread-qualifying, IMO.

A bit OT, but here goes.

I have no issue with any form of payment, cash, debit and credit. All three can be (and should be) used where appropriate.

But credit is always someone else's money, ergo should be used rarely because the thing about using someone else's money is that they expect it back and then a little more (right now this is achieved by charging the merchant to accept credit, which the merchant passes on to us in the form of higher prices).

I treat credit like the sugar of a financial diet, a little sugar is OK (its even necessary) but you wouldn't have a diet of 100% sugar.

Lots of cash means you're either dodging income tax or can't be trusted with a debit card IMO.
