Tell us something really trivial about your life (Vol 29)
Discussion
I’ve had to cave today and take some of the “extra” (prescribed, nothing dodgy) pain meds.
Leg is very sore, I’d even say painful. Going from sitting to standing and vice versa, even without using the duff leg or putting any weight on it is not at all pleasant. Sleeping is still tricky, I’m counting three hours as a win at the moment. But even three hours isn’t “good” sleep. It’s really hot and and sticky here too, which doesn’t help.
So I’m tired, grumpy and in pain. I can’t even be bothered to watch stuff on telly. Fortunately I’ve got a TV/DVD combo in the bedroom with an Apple tv box attached, so I can also watch Netflix, Prime, More 4, iPlayer etc.
Can’t sleep at night but try watching tv and I’m out like a light and end up rewatching stuff.
I’m currently fighting the urge to buy the Lego roller coaster (£300) and a watch (~£185) I’ve got my eye on...

Sorry to hear the leg issues today, just keep thinking if it hurts its getting better Probably complete cobblers but hey!!
Word to the wise; Dont mention Watches or Whisky with Bobbers about........... He comes over a bit........... Well you know!!
Just a bit of a whinge, really. I’m feeling a bit cheesed off, tired, bored, frustrated and in a bit of pain. I’m trying not to think about the fact I’ve got three months or so of bone lengthening, I’m just “little chunking” the whole process at the moment. Offloading is a help, so cheers for that!
I’m seeing the consultant on Friday for my post op check up so I shall see if I can have more/stronger pain relief until things settle down. I guess I’ve gone from a reasonably stable, pain free (although non functioning) leg to an unstable, painful one.
Tomorrow is exactly 12 months since the off (it actually happened on a Wednesday, so sort of today). I’m in a better position now than I was then!
On top of this, my lovely GF has had to fly home at short notice for a couple of days, so I won’t get to see her until Friday.

Kinell! I thought this was a recent collision.I’m seeing the consultant on Friday for my post op check up so I shall see if I can have more/stronger pain relief until things settle down. No idea how you`ve remained sane for a year. I was chewing the furniture after about a week when my Appendix malfunctioned & was liberated by medical intervention.
I can only apologise profusely for my shouty poorly spelt outburst earlier, i have no excuse, i throw myself on the mercy of the Trivialistas!!
Did someone mention whisky and watches?? I know a little of both, mainly about spending too much on both!!!
What ho Dibble old chap, did matron not come and see you? I did tell her your pain medication wasn't up to scratch, she assured me that some of the Albanian plonk Bomma had would be suitable, i say suitable, her exact words were "A bottle of that stuff and he won't wake up for a week!!"

I was in hospital for 12 weeks, rather than the anticipated 6, due to the post op infection, embolisms, pneumonia... I spent 6 weeks on the major trauma unit (one step down from intensive care), where the average stay for polytrauma is 3-6 days...No idea how you`ve remained sane for a year. I was chewing the furniture after about a week when my Appendix malfunctioned & was liberated by medical intervention.
Highlights were:
- Getting out of bed and sitting in a chair after mostly lying flat for about 7 weeks (hoisted out like a massive man-baby in a sling), then fainting due to my blood pressure dropping through the floor;
- My first post morphine dump (like stting a cricket ball, both in diameter and firmness) after not doing anything at all for over ten days...
- Losing 35 kilos (I’d recommend a more traditional route, like Weight Watchers);
- An actual stand up piss after about 8 weeks;
- Using an actual toilet rather than a bed pan, again after about 8 weeks;
- First shower in 8 weeks.
Sanity has mostly been maintained by my frankly wonderful girlfriend, who has pretty much put everything on hold to help me. She is an absolute star and once I am sorted we will be going somewhere nice on holiday - probably somewhere remote in Scandinavia. She’s not a fan of ostentation/“big” gestures, so a log cabin by a lake will do us fine. Some nice food and just time to do “nothing”, without work, family, appointments or life in the way.
I’ve sad it before, but it’s worth repeating - a good 99% of the NHS staff I’ve dealt with have been absolute superstars. A few stand out for me, sometimes for just holding my hand while I had a cry, physios for getting me moving, nursing staff who stayed on well past the end of the shift, solely to make sure I was getting a particular drug or treatment I needed. My current consultant gets a big mention too. She is utterly bonkers but completely straightforward and honest. She doesn’t dress stuff up and I never feel like I’m taking too much of her time. She treats me like a person, not a patient.

Peri you mentioned yesterday that your ink was on show do you have pictures?
My chest piece is on "Images" ,due to it's "popularity" on a Ford forum ,where it got slaughtered .It was unfinished at the time and just you try getting a self pic of a large tattoo from belly button up to nipple level.
Had a look on Images today to see it still there and a different forum link was with the pic ,nobody on that one ripped
into it.
My arms have a lot of cheap flash art on them ,mostly covered but not sleeves ,so nothing exceptional there.

Is it a ‘wrath of satan’ one with a 105E in the middle?More my era than the new-fangled slopey window Anglia.
But you wouldn't be able to see it through the dense fur.
Thinking of Dibble's discomfort and trying to sleep during these humid nights, how about a portable air conditioner/ dehumidifier thing? Gotta be worth a try?

A slightly better night last night. No mozzies and a bit cooler. A bit more of the pain meds helped as well I think.
No fog horns either, just the idiot dog dreaming and barking in his sleep. I have woken up to a power cut though, but service should be back on by 9ish. Good job I have the power bank charged for the iPad!
