WRX is on in 8 minutes from Finland ,earlier than last weekend as they are a further hour ahead , not sure I knew that when I went there in 2015.
Is there a sign at the border saying move your clocks forward an hour ?

I've read the first chapter of MM book on 1927 race.
First ever driver to start was one of the 4 MM creators , Count Aymo Maggi , co driven by a certain Bindo Maserati.
Spoiler alert , the first 3 places at finish were OMs , Officine Mechanicce ,made in Brescia , where every MM starts and finishes.
Geek over.

Earlier this year when I was in Scandinavia we had to leave the engines running on the transit minibuses if we went out in the evening. At least they were nice and toasty inside when we got back in, it was a bit chilly outside.

Well I suppose I should share this with you all, while searching in the small barn I found some papers,I've been trying to work out what they were as most of them had "Top Sekrit" stamped all over them, one which did catch my eye were a couple of drawings of what appears to be the dungeon basement below the kitchen of the main house!!!!

I don't remember seeing another room off the dungeon basement let alone all the other stuff in the drawing!!!! yikes

More MM factoids.....
Mario Andretti was inspired to be a race driver by seeing the MM pass by when he lived in Italy before moving to USA.
Pietro Bordino was the golden boy of Italy motorsport but was killed practicing for the Targa Florio when he hit a dog which jammed his steering and he crashed into a river and drowned.
He was more highly regarded than Tazio Nuvolari. , both of them having a mantra of full throttle 100% of the time.

Strangely I never knew that the MM was that old Peri, for some reason I thought that it was a fairly modern race just for historic race/Grand tourers!!! I'm genuinely fascinated by the books you've bought!!!

Tonight we're having a meal of throw stuff in the oven, Piri-piri chicken thighs, Mediterranean roasted vegetables and roasted Charlotte potatoes!!!! lick

The race dates from when the Italians - quite rightly - used miles instead of kilometres to measure distance. The clarity of the Imperial system of measurement was one of the many useful things the Romans took back from the Ancient Brits along with wine making and pasta.

The name Mille Miglia is mentioned in the first pages .
The 4 creators of the race sat around a map and when they had a rough route ,one observed it was about 1600 KMs ,that wouldn't be

a very catchy name or nom , Sedici Cento Kilometri ......so 1000 miles it was .

ION .....I went and looked at the void , it was entirely uninteresting ,the build up to this disappoints with the results .

Another MM thing.....It was created as an alternative to the new fangled circuit not too far away called Monza .

Although one of the creators of Monza entered the 1st MM ,under a pseudonym ,to save face ,but it became common

knowledge fairly quickly who Mr X really was .

He also finished 7th in an Alfa.

So is it a true race in the sense that there's a winner? And different classes? Is there a prize or trophy for winning?

In other Towers related news i have found the entrance to the sub basement, it can be entered through the pantry in the kitchen!!! eek There's a false door at the back which is activated by first lifting up the old Kilner jar on the top shelf, then knocking over the salt cellar on the middle shelf, turning every jar around on the bottom shelf, moving the entire contents of the second to top shelf off onto the floor, pushing the big box of tea bags on the floor to one side, moving the three cases of champagne on middle shelf to the floor, drinking half a bottle of the Absinthe that's on the top shelf and then pulling down the candlestick holder just behind the doorframe!!! yes
I just need to find some batteries for my trusty torch and i'm off to investigtate!!!
