I have to say I am biased in that I have been involved with an amateur company for 25 years. Despite the bias, I know from our audience comments and reactions that we put on extremely good shows and we are often asked if we are professionals.
Our next production is "Jesus Christ - Superstar" in March.

I see you are a leper! I was 2nd leper when I was in a production of it ("See me stand, I can hardly walk" IIRC wink) but I have preferred playing in the band. Cheesy music but good fun to play (nice horn part). Bit of a guilty pleasure for me.

I have seen We Will Rock You, Chicago, and only last weekend Blood Brothers, by far the best Blood Brothers, in fact so good i could book up again for this weekend. I/we bought the tickets on the day/Saturday from Leicester Square ticket office/booth and paid £31 per ticket, online £45

Hee hee - I've got that line as well (and a few others). I'm also one of the temple traders (Take Your Pick of the Finest Wine). Last time we did it (1995) I was one of the priests. This time around, I wanted to be in the main chorus as I missed out on too much of the music by being a priest.

Spooky.

The above are, quite seriously, 2 of my favourite things.

Can I be you when I grow up?
I'll let you know, when I've grown up.

P.S. I've got the original Blondel cast recording on CD if you'd like a copy. It's ridiculously hard to find. In fact, how I came by my copy is an interesting and uplifting story.

I've got it on vinyl (bought it when new in the 80s). Try finding it on CD. Or MP3. And I mean original CD recording, not recorded from vinyl.

If it's not on there, it doesn't exist...probably wasn't released on CD, or perhaps only unoffically.

is The 39 Steps a musical?
Nope, no singing and dancing in this one.

I think it was early 94 when I was in it - apparently at the time the biggest budget student show ever done. I know it was hard work getting the performing rights - and they wouldn't let it be video'd either. Must have played in the band for it 2 or 3 times over the last 10 years.

Been in the casts of a few other things in the dim and distant past - Pink Champagne (bastardised version of Die Fledermaus IIRC), Fiddler on the Roof, and My Fair Lady amongst others. Prefer to be in the pit though wink
