Our history. Not just the fact that there's so bloody much of it, but all the things the nation has done. The long history of the Royal family (even if you're not a Royalist), the development of the Church of England, the Empire (come on, we're a tiny island and we occupied a quarter of the known world, I know a lot of it isn't nice but it's damn impressive!), standing up to Germany twice when no one else could manage it/wanted to do it.
Admittedly recent history hasn't been that great so we lose points on that count.
Where do I start?Admittedly recent history hasn't been that great so we lose points on that count.
OK let's start with "standing up to Germany twice when no one else could manage it/wanted to do it."
British Army WW1 (fatal) casualties: 885,138
British Army WW1 wounded: 1,663,435
French Army WW1 (fatal) casualties: 1,397,800
French Army WW1 wounded: 4,266,000

Churchill and Alexander would sometimes be pulling their hair out at the lack of fighting spirit in the British Army. Personally I don't blame the soldiers, the Allies were sure to win after Normandy, so why would you want to die in acheiving the inevitable?
