Our history. Not just the fact that there's so bloody much of it, but all the things the nation has done. The long history of the Royal family (even if you're not a Royalist), the development of the Church of England, the Empire (come on, we're a tiny island and we occupied a quarter of the known world, I know a lot of it isn't nice but it's damn impressive!), standing up to Germany twice when no one else could manage it/wanted to do it.

Admittedly recent history hasn't been that great so we lose points on that count.
Where do I start?

OK let's start with "standing up to Germany twice when no one else could manage it/wanted to do it."

British Army WW1 (fatal) casualties: 885,138

British Army WW1 wounded: 1,663,435

French Army WW1 (fatal) casualties: 1,397,800

French Army WW1 wounded: 4,266,000
Just goes to show how much easier it is to shoot people when they are surrendering/running away.
You beat me to it.biggrin
While you are all slapping each other on the back and laughing about what great warriors the Brits are, it may be a sobering thought that 100,000 British troops surrenderd to a Japanese force of 25,000 at Singapore.

Churchill and Alexander would sometimes be pulling their hair out at the lack of fighting spirit in the British Army. Personally I don't blame the soldiers, the Allies were sure to win after Normandy, so why would you want to die in acheiving the inevitable?

I bet none of you agree with me on this.

The question was "what little things make Britain great?"

Not "what makes Scotland fat and toothless?"

It's not intrinsically British though is it? Everyone loves bacon. Well, everyone not in/from the Middle East that is.

No, I do actually think the UK motorway network is reasonably good, its mostly the twonks driving on it that are the problem,

And I did mention bacon and it is true, you struggle to get decent quality bacon similar to the UK,
