At a track day in the 80s, my brother had his Cooper S and I had my hotted up MG Metro. Other participants were Nick Mason in his 250GTO and Roger St John Hart in 2 VEV.

I bet that doesn't happen now.
Hellfire, That would have made for an interesting chat with the insurance company if you'd had a bit of a bump:

"What was the make and registration of the car you ran into the back of, Mr Cutler?"

"The number plate was 2 VEV. Some sort of sports car, quite old it was. Probably wouldn't be worth very much at all"

hehe

Time for bed

I've done gardening, and painting, primer then undercoat, not a portrait in oils.

It was at Silverstone and the old circuit which still had Hanger Straight to give me a chance to catch the Cooper S which had managed the twisty bits better but ran out of go on the faster bits. With the speedo of the Metro showing 110, 2 VEV went past like I was tied to a tree and disappeared into the distance*. Then there was a commotion and brake lights, then I was coming up fast on the Aston's bonnet lying in the middle of the track. The bonnet-less car was on its way to the pits and I was taking energetic avoiding action.

*presumptive text wanted to write 'and disappeared into the dishwasher.'

ETA it wasn't Hanger Straight. On track days then you doubled back at Stowe and ran straight to Club Corner. I guess it was the main runway. It was brilliant but would have been better in something faster.

smile

ETA You've forgotten, haven't you?

Yes.

Splendid reminder Hammo! Thanks for that. I've long suspected that Woodstock is the brains of the crew; he certainly seems to have the right idea there.
Morning All.
Perhaps the pressure washer thing will happen today. I let it slide yesterday as it seemed churlish to make so much racket on a Sunday. So I procrastinated instead, when I wasn't working for the Memsahib.
The Memsahib likes gardening, except for the actual gardening part. She prefers to supervise and in fairness she does it pretty well.
On the bright side I did locate my workshop scissors, which she had borrowed (swiped) and left on the planting bench.
Happy holidays everyone; the retired excepted. No day off for us.

Good morrow fellow Trivialities everywherewavey
I would still be asleep right now if it wasn't for the small cocked, selfish, ignorant, fktard, wk stain with his open piped Harley riding past at 0810 this morning. rage
Some times I feel like finding out which house the tt lives in and beating on his door every morning for a week at 0600 as I leave for work to make sure he's up!!!

Fantastic reminder that hammo19, Woodstock looks set for the day!!

We have absolutely nothing planned for the day, other than me taking care of some paperwork bits, nono not work related, and turning the fantastic turn by turn directions sir glen de robbo has provided into a full map with distances ready for The Brassington!!!! smile

Bon Matinsoir Tootle Monde! wavey

Thanks for the reminder, Hammo! thumbup

Another negative Elbow Test has started off the day in a positive manner, but there's no let-up in my packed retirement schedule.
I am setting off shortly soon with my lily-white legs hanging out of the bottom of them to attend my second session of post-cardiac-rehab cardiac rehab exercises, which involve a warm-up, two full laps of a 10-part circuit of supervised exercises involving weights, exercise bikes, rowing machines, rubber stretchy things ( Ooh-err, Missus! ), benches, chairs and floor mats. Then a cool down. Phew! I'm all breffless just describing it, but I'm determined to improve my fitness levels. Else dead. smile
They say that many a new choon has been played on an old fiddle, or summat. confused

IOTN, Yestereve we had TRENCHUL rain here oop norf, but today looks better wiv some sun, some patches of blue and some ooje black clards! rolleyes

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the hilights of the Monaco "How slow can we go?" contest, especially the bit where Bottas broke convention by executing a nifty overtake, setting the fastest lap by over 4 seconds in the process.
He should be ashamed/congratulated/penalised/praised/applauded/awarded a 10-second penalty* for such an audacious and hazardous manoeuvre.
* Delete as appropriate.
It would have been good to witness Dicky in his souped-up MG Metro showing them all how it should really be done! bow

Oh well, it's time to grab my lanyard with its' attached pesky/pass-key access card, towel and water bottle and head off to see Gym. Wish me luck.
Yes, I know it's a Bonk Holiday and all the brothels in Trivton are closed, but I have checked and the session is still happening.

Have a gnice day yawl! wavey

Later crocodiles,
Golf Romeo out. ( But not down and out. Yet.)

Today i was meant to be taming the 'thing'* but the ink lemon tea wevver has put paid to that.

Oh well such is life woohoo

* the Trivingham Warden Aborial Team called it that as they are not sure what 'it' actually is, but apparently it contains some impressive samples of Hawthorn, a rather aggressive Bramble plus other unknown 'things' some of which might be plants/weeds.

I would have done it yesterday but today was the first time i have found my hiking boots, yesterdays antics resulted in me pulling a 2 inch long hawthorn spike out of my foot via the side of my soft trainer. It might have left me unwilling to chance it again until i found something more substantial to wear on me plates.

Gud moaneve one an dawl!

Yes, forgotten but not gone. Again.

Firstly, commiserations to Dicky for having to visit the Peoples' Republic of Basingrad - glad that you've escaped relatively unscathed, just don't push your luck again. They monitor incomings and outgoings, and the Basingrad Stazi don't take prisoners.

Thanks too for the Silverstone reminiscences - it's not the same these days, the old "get to the end, turn right" days were something else. I remember standing on the pit wall in the days when I spannered a Formula Vee, it always seemed to take an age before the pack reappeared after another lap. To be fair, that used to happen at most circuits, but it was more noticeable at Silverstone. Another memory of Slverstone was that the plastic cutlery in the paddock caff was no match for the sausages. Or the baked beans, come to that.

In other news, my former father-in-law had "a fall" and has ended up in horsepiddle. He's not well at all, a busted hip is one thing, but he's smoked twenty fags a day since he was about fourteen, and pneumonia has set in. He's a decent sort, a mechanic by trade, and helped me out on a few occasions, but very "old-school", if a car didn't have a carburettor and a set of points, he was out of his comfort zone. Obviously, the former Mrs O'Logical and the offspring are rather anxious, so we can but hope.

IOON, I won't be participating in the Brassington, as my back won't be up to it, and my passport's out of date. Soz.

Right. Not sure what I'll do this afternoon, I've knocked off 15,000 steps already, on account of the forthcoming apocalyptic deluge/light showers/thunder and lightning, so I might catch up on some admin which I keep putting off. Or watch something on tv.

Moustache!

A sunny cloudy morning has happened here at outpost F with your correspondent having spent five(5) hours on scaffolding cementing the ends of rows of roofing tiles on my barn. It was a job that’s been hanging about for a couple of months that needed getting got done as tomorrow morning the land and wood get signed and paid for (I’ve already paid for it) at our local Notaire’s office.
It then full steam ahead with ripping out knackered sheep fencing, levelling some areas before putting up new fencing etc and possibly (if I can afford it) a new four(4) metre galvanised farm gate and post.

No bank holiday here today so all is kind of normal.

Enjoy the day off you folks that are still in gainful employment and us retired folk will carry on and keep the world spinning.

Fout.

PS. Bobbers please bare with me until I sort my self out for a trivial hoody etc.

Well this morning has been busy taking the grandkids to Knight school at the castle, where I also had to participate. It's been a busy morning of galloping, sword work, learning how to storm the castle and attack the castle gates.

But apparently I passed with flying colours. You can call be Sir Byker now as I was knighted by none other that Sir Benfro himself winkbiggrin
