Saw this pop-up on Twitter earlier and thought it was worthy of a PH debate.

Interpretation is:

  • Group of youngsters clearly throwing something before video started
  • Man confronts them
  • Ends up slapping one - a bloody strong slap by the looks of thing and kid takes it well (I'd cry if it happened to me hah)

some reason can't get sound (don't have twitter account) - did the kid say something super bad?

Edited - sent to iphone , heard the sound. Angry London man seems a bit OTT to be honest.

Keen to know more details

reckon he'll get nicked for assault, and I'm guessing it isn't the first time

Bloke sounds like he's out of Lock, Stock & 2 smoking barrels lol

He's in trouble for that slap though - hard to justify but then we have no idea what the kids had been doing.

Clearly it's assault and therefore wrong and the chap's language leaves a lot to be desired, but lots of children and teenagers have zero respect for anything or anyone and deserve a good hiding in my opinion. Whether this child one one of them, I can't tell from the video clip.

Looked a bit heavy handed from the short clip with no sound - but clearly the guy was fuming about something.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the 'kid' (doesn't look that young really) probably deserved it and this is one of the rare occasions where they pissed off the wrong type of person. Shame it doesn't happen more, maybe feral kids who constantly litter, vandalise, intimidate people etc would be a bit more cautious.

Or maybe not, perhaps the guy is just a bellend, hard to tell with no context!

thanks mate - my BSc in Computer science didn't cover clicking unmute in any of the 3 years of lectures.

The problem was I was accessing via a cloud in Germany and the speakers didn't like it. Appreciate the training though. PH sometimes seriously.

That was a proper slap hehe

I’d like to think he and his buddies have been the usual sort of tt wannabe ‘roadmen’ black tracksuit/north face jacket wearing types and got called out (and slapped) for it. However, chances are mr suit has had a few post work bevies and went too far.

Basically this.

Some of the kids about today are beyond belief.

Reminds me of this one https://x.com/999herts/status/1576987771268235264?...

You can be sure nobody have given them a hiding like that before hehe

Sounds like they were already standing down so there was no need for that. Bit weird how he (the kid) bounced back up so quickly and carried on saying he's not doing anything. Surprised it didn't kick off after the slap.

It sounded like they had been gobby before as he talks about them coming down the train "giving it the biggun" If you are in a group of later teens and on your own I guess you sometimes need to be the first to strike and hit them hard enough that the others do not want to continue? Was it reasonable force?...I guess that depends on how fearful the bloke was that they would have done him harm.

I doubt there was any long term damage and I bet the kid would thing again before being gobby. The hard man could have thumped the bloke and put him in hospital.

I wouldn't want anyone to do that to my kid though unless she had really been asking for it and posed a threat to the aggressor if he hadn't acted.

I know a chap who was close protection to David Cameron and when we were at a spar type shop locally there were two 'orrid looking teens causing a bit of mischief in the door way - blocking the way of people - this chap walked up to them and in the last few steps put his shoulder down and barged the biggest one out in to the street and on his arse...he just sat there stunned.

Not hard enough……but a really good effort. Kids need this treatment more often.

The Kid would have not known if his mates would defo back him up and I bet that slap hurt a lot, would you have wanted to then go toe to toe with the bloke who does not seem alien to violence? Probably took the wind out of his sails and felt it was better to stay sat down but his mouth kept going...

Appears not to have covered any social skills either unsurprisingly.

Probably a bit of both.

It's not ideal, but sometimes a quick lesson in consequences isn't a bad thing.

That's what I thought - based on the vid I can't see any reason for him slapping the kid. Tbh he comes across a a total .

Absolutely love this kind of thing, where you see kids and bystanders suddenly shouting "leave them alone, they're just kids".

These same kids are insufferable, rude, ignorant, pricks most of the time and these same people shouting in the background are those who blame the Police for not dealing with them, or society in general.

These aren't "kids". They may be legally, but we all know that some of these youths are just horrible cretins and often dangerous too.

I was on the underground last weekend, and there was a pair of little darlings, probably 12 or 13...shouting, being rude to women especially, but also a bloke they sat next to, accusing him of touching them even though he was just sat minding his own business. Me and another bloke stepped in to offer some backup. After enquiring as to what their game was, they buggered off down the train to annoy someone else.
Little sts.
A good telling off might do the world of good! Good on the chap in the video...I have no doubt they deserved it.

Very true, those lads were happy to pile in on the security guard until he turned the fight in his favour. What is sad is that the general public get their phones out instead of evening up the numbers with the guard or better still the public break up the fight and help the security guard wait for the Police to arrive.
