Why do women get so pissed off when they're called 'Poppet'? It's almost like a trigger word to send them into a banshee like rage hehe

Especially if you pat them on the head when you say it.

I think it may be the sudden realisation that they are talking to a bell-end that might be the trigger...

A female colleague lost it with our Midlands ASM when he called her 'flower'. Bit of an overreaction if you ask me.

A female worker in the midlands went mental with me and reported me to HR because I used the word 'love'

I'm from Yorksire

A guy from stoke said 'duck' a few days laters and it had the same effect.

Although, aparently it was ok for her to call everyone 'bab' its almost as if she was looking for a reasong to be offended probably to use as an excuse for her next six months off with stress.

Did she sign off from phone calls by saying 'tarrar-a-bit'?

She sounds hideous!

If they're familiar with the original meaning, that'll do it (from Wiki)

"In folk-magic and witchcraft, a poppet is a doll made to represent a person, for casting spells on that person. These dolls may be fashioned from such materials as a carved root, grain or corn shafts, a fruit, paper, wax, a potato, clay, branches, or cloth stuffed with herbs. The intention is that whatever actions are performed upon the effigy will be transferred to the subject based in sympathetic magic. It was from these European dolls that the myth of Voodoo dolls arose. Poppets are also used as kitchen witch figures."
