I want to buy some cheap steel wheels off Ebay. The Seller is saying pick up only. I want to arrange a courier to collect. Any ideas who will do such a thing?

Thanks

I used them for a 25kg pump and they were good.

So go and collect them like the auction tells you too.
I had two cretins ask me to post heavy hi-fi and speakers despite making it very clear that it was collect only. Total time wasters.

Its a pain for the seller to do this as many couriers will give you a 'window' in which they will arrive. I did this once and when the courier said I could have 8-1 or 1-6 mon to fri I emailed the buyer to say I wasn't having it as I worked 8 to 6.30 monday to friday at the time. They proceeded to leave negative feedback yada yada.

How far away are they? Are there any others for similar price that are offering postage? Is it feasible to collect them but you just don't want to? Very few sellers do collect only just to be a pain.

There are only 2 sets I can find and both are 200 + miles away. My intention is to email the sellers explaining the situation once I know how much courier fees will be etc.

I've delivered dozens of sets of wheels with DHL, most of them booked through parcel2go.

Get the seller to send them using one of the economy service on Interparcel.

A 70 x 70 x 50cm 5Kg parcel can be sent for £5.95 + VAT on the HDNL 48 hour service, which is a bargain.

This is exactly what I was going for, though I tend to pick the cheapest of parcel2go's offerings. A full set of alloys with tyres is on their two-day way to me for £28 all-in, which you really can't argue with smile

Should be no problem with getting a courier service if it says collection only.. Not much difference between you collecting it and a courier collecting it, then only thing is that they'll have to package them a little to protect them.

Wheels are 8-10kg each and tyres another 10kg each though.

Never hurts to ask, but I think you'll probably be told to jog on.

One time I have had this done to me they used parcel farce, who not suprisingly got lost (there are 3 roads with same name, but finishing in Road, Avenue and Lane) despite havig the right address they kept going to XXX Road, even when it was pointed out to them they were wrong they just rejected the address and said I wasnt home 3 times, in the end I just delievered the dam tings as he only lived about 15 miles away, bugger didnt even live feedback.

Have you checked the seller will accept courier? When I say collect only, I mean it and won't stay in to wait for some 9-5 courier company to inconvenience me (as it would be impossible) as collection is normally on a Sunday.

Make sure you do that BEFORE bidding.

The seller will have to agree to making himself available for the time of pickup, possibly wrapping and palleting of the wheels, etc, which they may (quite rightly) not be willing to do.

Unless time is absolutely of the essence, OP, I'd just wait it out.

I recently got a second set of wheels for my track car from eBay; started off a bit panicky as they were only ever miles away and always 'buyer collects'.

Just sat it out though; bought the set from a chap 8 miles away in the end.

I sold some wheels as collect only and the bugger wanted a courier arranging, was a proper pain in the arse for me findign a pallet and having to wrap it. so definitely worth asking before you bid.

You make a good point...

However, shipping costs these days are usually calculated more by volume than weight and in fact you can still get that £5.95 service for the same size box weighing 20Kg. So as long as they're not monster truck wheels it's still not a bad option.
