Buy It For Life - PH Style
Discussion
Having read a few webpages and the Reddit pages, I thought I'd put the question to PH'ers for some inspiration.
I've got a birthday coming up and like many, struggle to think of things to ask for.
What I want to start doing is buying things, new or used, that will last my life time (most of it or even outlast me).
I've started making a list, and now want some inspiration and to hear what everyone else considers lifetime possessions.
Items:
- Straight Razor
- Zippo lighter
- Proper knife/multi-tool
- Maglight torch
- 1850 - 1950's Chisels, Spokeshaves, Bailey Planes, Saw's, Gauges, Bit & Brace
- Snap-On or similar lifetime warranty Spanners, Screwdrivers, Socket sets etc
- A proper quality watch
- Defender 110
- Some sort of Barbour jacket
- Cast iron cookware
What else everyone?

Shoes for me - I have pairs that after 20 years are still as good as new. Just usual care and the odd heel/sole replacement.
I love nice shoes and appreciate what you say. In fact I think the same. Lately I've started wearing a 12 year old pair, polished up lovely and in isolation as good as new. THEYRE NOT! Put them next to a new pair and it's obvious. They look good for they're age but we are fooling ourselves to think a 12 or 20 year old pair of shoes ( unless unused) can look as good as new. It's impossible. Thankyou4calling said:
