I've just collected my son's GCSE results. The envelope is open, but I haven't looked. My son is away until Monday, but says he wants to wait until he's home and open them himself. I promised him that I will wait until his return and not look.
Those at work say that they'd sneak a peek and then lie about it.
So, what would you do?
P.S. I've now sealed the envelope so as not to lead to temptation. Just interested in the ratio as to who could resist!

Open them up.
Tell him that until he gets his own letterbox what ever comes through it is yours.
Then if he did st don't let him come back

Also, this:
... as he's opening the results. If good, he gets a kitten. If bad, nobody gets a kitten.

Don't be a dick, they're his results good, bad or indifferent they're his to learn first.
He must be reasonably confident to be away when they were due to arrive!
Compassion is weakness. He must be reasonably confident to be away when they were due to arrive!
I'd wager that you're built unpowerfully and the director of nothing.

I remember the day I got mine... well actually I remember the day I should have got mine, but was too busy doing other things. Skateboarding or boozing I expect. Its been 8 years so I can't remember.
I didn't care about my results at all, but a few of those around me did, and I do remember how eager and exited they were to open the results and share with their folks.
Do the decent thing and leave them where they are. If he does well, celebrate with him, if not, you can be there to offer some comfort.
I guess you could send him a proper dad text telling him what he got if you really wanted to piss him off though.

My daughter got hers this morning. Massively proud of her, 7 x A stars, 4 x A's.
Wow, that's great. They do say it skips a generation!! Not surprised you're proud. My lad got 5 As (inc Maths & English Language), 2 Bs and 5 Cs. Very pleased. He's no genius and has really worked hard for those grades.
I had a reward to grade payment schedule agreed with him so his success has cost me £360!

Open them, scan them, Photoshop it and put it in the envelope.
When he opens them and you see the look of joy on his face as he sees straight As, pull the real one out and shout, "Joke's on you, dumb-ass! They're all Fs! "
Then shoot the kitten. When he opens them and you see the look of joy on his face as he sees straight As, pull the real one out and shout, "Joke's on you, dumb-ass! They're all Fs! "
OP, just read them - if they're good you could book a table at a resturant for Monday night to celebrate.
If they're bad you've got all weekend to pack all of his things up ready to kick him out when he returns.
GCSE's are meaningless though - I left school after doing terrible in mine (I'm smart, just didn't revise) and I'm doing fine, I'm on good money, got nice cars etc. Doing better than all of my mates that have degrees!

In all honesty, it is actually very handy as they have very nice meeting rooms located around the country, which are free to use...
